Table tennis player Nguyen Duc Tuan of Hai Duong returns to top level

In July 2023, for personal reasons, Nguyen Duc Tuan withdrew from the national team right after the 41st Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship. At that time, with the men's singles gold medal won for the national team after 19 years, at the 31st SEA Games in 2022, Nguyen Duc Tuan was still the Vietnamese tennis player with the best international achievements. After withdrawing from the team, although he did not achieve outstanding results in domestic tournaments, Nguyen Duc Tuan is still one of the leading tennis players in Vietnam to date.

According to the list of the Vietnamese table tennis team, Nguyen Duc Tuan, his teammate from Hai Duong, Doan Ba ​​Tuan Anh, and 8 other players will participate in the Southeast Asian tournament. Among them, another notable return is the Vietnamese women's table tennis icon Mai Hoang My Trang of Ho Chi Minh City. At the 2nd Con Son Cup International Table Tennis Tournament in 2024 hosted by Hai Duong, My Trang helped Ho Chi Minh City win the women's team championship after defeating the girls from Guangxi (China) with a score of 3-0.

In this tournament, Hai Duong female tennis player Bui Ngoc Lan was not called up.

The 2024 Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championship will take place in Thailand from November 19-24, with full events including men's and women's team events; men's and women's singles events; men's and women's doubles events; and mixed doubles events.
