People in An Thanh commune, Tu Ky district (Hai Duong) are starting to harvest the main season of rươi, but the amount of rươi is less than in previous years, and in many areas there are no rươi yet.
Currently, only a few households catch 2-3kg of blood worms each night. The selling price is from 300,000-350,000 VND/kg, equivalent to the same period last year.
According to local people, this year the main season of rươi appeared less and later than usual. The main reason was due to the impact of storm No. 3, the area outside the dike was submerged in water for many days, causing the adult rươi to die and the amount of alluvium to fill the rươi holes.
The main harvest season for earthworms starts from the 20th day of the 9th lunar month and lasts until the end of the 12th lunar month. According to people's experience, earthworms can appear more in the 10th lunar month.
