The National Assembly works at the 5th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly.

On the morning of January 18, the National Assembly voted to pass the Land Law (amended). The electronic voting results showed that 432 delegates participated in the vote in favor (accounting for 87.63%). Thus, with the majority of delegates participating in the vote in favor, the National Assembly officially passed the Land Law (amended). The law consists of 16 chapters and 260 articles.

According to Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh, the Land Law is a major law project, of special significance and importance in the country's political, socio-economic, defense, security, and environmental protection life; it has a profound impact on all classes of people and the business community, and is also a very difficult and complicated law project.

The draft law has been prepared responsibly, carefully and elaborately by the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government and relevant agencies and organizations through many rounds and steps.

This is a draft law that has been discussed by the National Assembly at the 4th, 5th and 6th sessions; it is also a draft law that has been organized to collect public opinions with about 12 million contributed opinions.

This extraordinary session is the fourth session that the National Assembly has considered a draft law, while in the normal law-making process, the National Assembly only considers one draft law in two sessions.

The draft law has also been officially commented on by the National Assembly Standing Committee six times. In addition, the National Assembly has also organized two conferences of specialized National Assembly deputies to discuss this draft law.

The draft Land Law (amended) submitted to the National Assembly at the 5th Extraordinary Session consists of 16 chapters and 260 articles. Compared to the draft law submitted to the National Assembly at the 6th Session, the draft law has removed 5 articles and amended and supplemented 250 articles (both in content and technique).

Based on research, discussion, exchange and careful review, relevant agencies have agreed to revise and complete the contents of 18 major groups of issues.

At the 5th extraordinary session, the draft revised Land Law continued to receive great attention from delegates. Based on 29 oral opinions and 9 written comments from National Assembly delegates, the National Assembly Standing Committee directed the presiding agency, the drafting agency and relevant agencies and organizations to explain, absorb and revise the draft law.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh said that the National Assembly considered the draft law at the 5th Extraordinary Session according to a special process and all opinions of National Assembly deputies were received and explained, and no National Assembly deputies had any further comments.

"That shows the cautious spirit of the National Assembly and agencies in legislative activities, always promoting quality and efficiency," said Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh.
