Nguyen Minh Tu and his accomplices operated a ring that sold 1,025,712 invoices to 88,053 units, agencies, organizations, and businesses with a total turnover of over 63,762 billion VND.
On December 19, the People's Court of Phu Tho province opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Nguyen Minh Tu (born in 1992, residing in Tam Phu ward, Thu Duc city - Ho Chi Minh city) and his accomplices for the crimes of "Illegal trading of invoices" and "Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations" and "Tax evasion."
This is an especially serious case. The investigation determined that Nguyen Minh Tu and his accomplices operated a ring selling 1,025,712 invoices to 88,053 units, agencies, organizations, and businesses with a total turnover of over 63,762 billion VND.
The defendants’ crimes occurred in many provinces and cities across the country, with a large number of people participating in the proceedings and attending the trial (100 defendants, 22 people with related obligations), and a long trial period. This is a case under the monitoring of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity of Phu Tho province.
According to the Investigation Agency, taking advantage of regulations on business registration procedures and business transfers allowed to be carried out via the website dangkykinhdoanh.gov.vn of the Ministry of Planning and Investment as well as the Electronic Information Page of the tax sector to establish businesses, register for tax declarations and issue invoices... via electronic forms, Nguyen Minh Tu, through Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1988, residing in Nhan Chinh, Thanh Xuan - Hanoi) bought 646 businesses.
Then, through social networks and Internet groups, Tu established a line and a network of level 1 and 2 intermediaries to sell value-added invoices to units in need across the country.
Previously, the People's Procuracy of Phu Tho province had issued an indictment to prosecute 100 defendants for trial. The Trial Council consisted of five people, two main judges and three people's jurors.
The trial is scheduled to take place from December 19-29.
