In order to help head coach Kim Sang-sik review and evaluate the abilities of players in the U21/U22 age group, thereby having the most proactive preparation for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam U22 team will have a training session lasting 5 days, from August 13 to August 17, 2024.

In the list of 35 players summoned, familiar faces who have regularly worn the U23 Vietnam team jersey recently have all been summoned by the Korean coach, including: Khuat Van Khang, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Hong Phuc, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Bui Vi Hao...

In addition, coach Kim Sang-sik also gave many young faces of the U20 team the opportunity to join the national team such as Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Gia Bao, Nguyen Bao Long, Quach Quang Huy, Trinh Long Vu, Mai Quoc Tu, Nguyen Manh Hung, Nguyen Quoc Khanh, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, Pham Dinh Hai.

Regarding the coaching staff, besides compatriots such as Choi Won-kwon, Nam Gung-do, Yoon Dong-hun, coach Kim Sang-sik will also have strong support from experienced Vietnamese assistants in training such as Dinh Hong Vinh, Phan Nhu Thuat and goalkeeper coach Tran Minh Quang.

The Vietnam U22 team will continue to have another training session at the end of August 2024. In this training session, the team will gather with mainly U21 players to participate in the International U21 Friendly Football Tournament organized by the Chinese Football Association, taking place from September 2 to September 10, 2024 in Changsha City with the participation of the teams: Vietnam, Malaysia, Uzbekistan and host China.
