US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Stanley Woodward, the lawyer who defended some of his top aides and associates, as well as those charged in the 2021 riots, to join his White House legal team.
Mr Trump's transition team said Mr Woodward would serve as assistant to the president and senior adviser. Mr Woodward would work closely with Ms Susie Wiles, who will serve as Mr Trump's White House chief of staff.
Last month, Mr. Trump appointed David Warrington as his top lawyer to lead the White House legal team, reversing his previous decision to appoint William McGinley, who moved to work with an outside team led by billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Mr. Trump is expected to be inaugurated as US president on January 20.
