The Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) has just released 5 signs of online fraud to warn social network users.
Accordingly, to protect yourself when participating in online platforms, learn to recognize the signs of fraud:
Attractive Offers: Offers that are much lower than market price or unimaginable.
Unexpected Friend Request: Received an online friend request from someone you don't know.
Pay by gift card or credit: Be required to pay for services with a gift card or shopping credit.
Urgent Transfer: Requested to make an urgent transfer.
OTP Request: Be asked to reveal your OTP code.
According to the Department of Information Security, in the first 6 months of this year, online fraud in Vietnam increased by 64.78% over the same period last year and increased by 37.82% compared to the last 6 months of 2022.
There are three main groups of fraud (brand counterfeiting, account hijacking and other combined forms) taking place in Vietnam's cyberspace. One of the main causes of this situation is determined to come from users' awareness.
In addition to technical solutions, popularizing and raising awareness to equip each individual with basic knowledge and skills, ensuring information security is a key factor in helping to create a safe Vietnamese cyberspace.
The Ministry of Information and Communications launched the campaign "Action Month to propagate and identify online fraud" under the chairmanship and coordination of the Department of Information Security, to raise awareness and knowledge about online fraud, protecting Vietnamese people from potential risks in cyberspace.
