Colonel Do Thanh Tam, Secretary of the Military Admissions Board, Ministry of National Defense, said last weekend that this year, 20 military schools are recruiting students for college and university levels. The total quota for the military system is about 4,400, down more than 900 compared to last year. In addition, this group of schools is recruiting civilians again after a 6-year hiatus, with about 3,500 quotas.
Schools will continue to consider admission using 7 combinations, including A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English), B00 (math, chemistry, biology), C00 (literature, history, geography), D01 (math, literature, English), D02 (math, literature, Russian), D04 (math, literature, Chinese), depending on the school. After the Ministry of Education and Training announces the admission regulations, schools can expand the admission combination, giving priority to English.
Admission methods are expected to remain stable as last year, including: direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; based on competency assessment test scores organized by two national universities; high school graduation exam scores; and review of academic records.
Candidates applying for the military system must pass a preliminary selection, scheduled from March 25 to May 20. If they meet the standards for background, culture, health and age, they will be eligible to register.
Last year, 17 military schools recruited about 5,300 university students. The standard score based on high school graduation exam scores ranged from 20.6 to 28.55 points.
