13 VTC channels, VOV channel and Nhan Dan television will stop broadcasting from today.
From 0:00 on January 15, when accessing these channels on some digital TV platforms, users received "interrupted" messages, automatically switched to another channel, or only had a black screen.
"According to the announcement of VTC Digital Television, the unit will cease all operations from January 15. Therefore, VTC channels will stop production and broadcasting on all broadcasting infrastructures," the website of service provider FPT Play wrote.
VTC's parent unit, VOV, said this was to "implement Resolution 18 of the Politburo and Plan 141 of the Government on streamlining the organizational apparatus".
In addition to VTC and VOVTV, some other channels such as Nhan Dan Television also stopped from January 15, while National Assembly TV stopped from January 1.
Television service providers in Vietnam have not yet announced plans to add new channels for users.
VTC was established on August 19, 2004 to apply and test digital technology in television broadcasting. In 2015, VTC Digital Television was transferred to the management of Voice of Vietnam.
For more than 20 years, VTC is considered the first television station in Vietnam to broadcast digitally, and has many achievements such as testing digital television, 4K television, and iTV interactive channel.
Meanwhile, VOVTV was established in 2008, Nhan Dan Television in 2015, before ending operations today.
Previously, some of Disney's foreign TV channels such as National Geographic, Baby TV, and Fox channels also stopped providing in Vietnam.
