Tu Ky District Military Command and Quang Khai Commune Military Command encouraged Vu Thanh Kien in Quang Khai Commune, who is still a university student, to volunteer to join the army.

Contribute to building the homeland

These days, Vu Thanh Kien in Vu Xa village, Quang Khai commune (Tu Ky) is very happy because his dream of becoming a soldier of Uncle Ho is about to come true. After the recent district-level health check, Kien is eligible to join the army. As a first-year student at Hanoi University of Industry, Kien decided to temporarily put his studies on hold and volunteer to join the army. His decision is supported by his family.

Mr. Kien shared: “I always hope that one day I will be able to wear a soldier’s uniform. During this time, I am learning more about living, studying, and training in the military so that I will not be surprised. For me, joining the army is not only fulfilling my responsibilities and obligations as a citizen to the country, but also an environment for learning and training.”

Meeting Vu Tien Dung in Zone 12, Thanh Binh Ward (Hai Duong City), we clearly saw his excitement and readiness to join the army. Dung has just graduated with honors from Hai Duong University.

When the preliminary examination order was issued, Mr. Dung proactively went to the ward People's Committee to ask for information and conditions for military service and wrote a volunteer application. He was very happy because he met the health requirements to pass the city-level examination. Moreover, Mr. Dung wanted to follow in his family's footsteps because many relatives have worked and grown up in the military environment.

“Leaving school and entering a disciplined military environment, every graduate like me will certainly feel bewildered. Training in the military environment is the luggage that helps me mature and demonstrate my responsibility as a citizen towards the country,” Mr. Dung shared.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Commander of the Hai Duong City Military Command, said that in recent years, many bachelors and engineers have volunteered to join the army and police. This shows that the sense of responsibility of young people in implementing the Law on Military Service has been raised. For young people with university and college degrees, when joining the army with the intention of serving long-term in the army, they need to actively train and improve their expertise and skills so that units can consider and create favorable conditions for recruitment.

Improve the quality of recruitment

According to the Thanh Ha District Military Command, to ensure the recruitment target, the District Military Service Council strictly checks the source, doing it twice a year. The locality also sends official dispatches to schools where students in the district are studying to check and grasp the list of young graduates, and at the same time coordinates propaganda work so that new graduates understand their obligations and responsibilities in implementing the Law on Military Service.

To ensure 100% of the target, the Military Service Council of Kinh Mon town has implemented many synchronous solutions. The locality has mobilized the entire political system to participate, stepping up propaganda about military recruitment to create a clear change in the awareness of the people and young people of military age.

In Thanh Mien district, the work of screening and classifying sources is focused on, clearly understanding who is present in the locality, who is working far away, who is moving for military service to study at universities and colleges...

With the motto "whoever is recruited is sure", localities are determined to do a good job of preliminary selection from the beginning to select qualified soldiers. Some communes and towns in the district set a target of mobilizing 10-15% of young men to join the army with university or college degrees.

Thanks to good propaganda, mobilization, and flexibility in military recruitment in districts, towns, and cities, in the 2025 military recruitment season, Hai Duong had many students who were studying or had graduated from university or college volunteering to join the army. In the 2025 military recruitment season, the whole province had 522 young people volunteering to join the army, 162 more than last year.

“The high rate of young people with university and college degrees who are eligible to join the army is a good sign for the locality, and an encouraging example for young people to learn from and follow. Many graduates are used to independent life as students, so they are confident in experiencing and taking on challenges in the military environment,” said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Minh Hoang, Deputy Commander of the Thanh Mien District Military Command.

According to the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command, the province has 3,377 young men who are healthy enough to join the army in 2025, of which 735 have university and college degrees, accounting for 21.76%. Kinh Mon town has the highest rate of young men with university and college degrees who are healthy enough to join the army in the province.
