18 cannons placed at Bach Dang wharf park to serve April 30th celebration

On the morning of March 19, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hau, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, said that units are coordinating to renovate the Bach Dang wharf park to prepare for artillery positions during the upcoming April 30 holiday.

There will be 18 cannons placed in the park opposite Nguyen Hue walking street. This location has been carefully surveyed and chosen by all parties due to its open view, solemnity, and suitability for people and tourists to visit when organizing commemorative programs.

According to the representative of the City Command, each cannon weighs about 4 tons, so the ground needs to be solidified to ensure technical and safety requirements during the event. After the holiday, the ground and landscape of the park will be restored as before. In addition to the above items, many other tasks are also being carried out in this area to prepare for the holiday.

Regarding the plan to prepare for the celebration activities, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy recently requested to move the starting location of the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River at Bach Dang wharf park to the opposite side of Thu Thiem to arrange the artillery position. This project is expected to start at the end of March, but the preparation for the holiday needs to be done in advance, so the above plan was put forward to allow all parties to be proactive.
