At the meeting and dialogue with comrade Pham Van Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong) on the morning of October 4, many people of Thanh Quang commune requested that the locality be allowed to handle centralized waste.
At the dialogue, there were 18 opinions focusing on the fields of agriculture, environment, and transportation. Notably, many people reported that the landfills in Thanh Quang commune were full, causing environmental pollution. In the commune, there was a situation of burning landfills that burned down lychee gardens. Thanh Quang commune residents requested the district to soon propose to relevant departments and branches of the province so that the locality can transport garbage for centralized treatment in Viet Hong commune (in the same Thanh Ha district).
Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the Thanh Ha District People's Council Pham Van Hung said that the district is currently supported with funding for collecting, transporting and treating waste centrally for 15 out of 20 communes and towns, while the remaining 5 communes, including Thanh Quang, are collecting, transporting and treating waste. However, the reality is that landfills are full, waste is not classified, not neatly collected, and over time, leachate and odors are not thoroughly treated, affecting the surrounding environment.
Faced with this situation, the District People's Committee has reported to the province and submitted a proposal to a number of departments and branches to propose a plan to support the collection, transportation and treatment of household waste for these communes. Currently, the provincial departments and branches are reviewing and assessing.
In the immediate future, Thanh Ha district requires communes to organize cleaning, compacting to create space to receive garbage every day, regularly sprinkle lime powder, biological products, spray disinfectants to avoid environmental pollution. Propaganda and mobilize households to classify and treat household waste at the source, limit waste that must be transported to landfills.
At the dialogue, many issues under the authority of the commune were directed to be resolved immediately by the Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Ha district.
