Quang Binh village, Dong Cam commune is currently the only village in Kim Thanh district that has not had its waste collected and treated at the factory.
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Kim Thanh district, there is currently only one village in the district that has not had waste collected and treated at the factory in Viet Hong commune (Thanh Ha), which is Quang Binh village (Dong Cam commune).
Currently, Quang Binh village still buries garbage at the centralized landfill of Cam La commune (old). This landfill is also currently full. Dong Cam commune and Kim Thanh district have repeatedly petitioned the province to collect domestic waste from the last village in the district to the factory for processing, but it has not yet been approved.
According to the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, at the end of 2023, the department will inspect a number of landfills in Kim Thanh district. At the time of inspection, the Cam La commune landfill (old) still had space, so it was not included in the province's approved waste treatment plan. In the coming time, the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment will direct specialized agencies to inspect and assess. If the conditions are met, it will advise on organizing collection and treatment.
Kim Thanh district currently has 18 communes and towns with 91 villages and residential areas. 90 villages and residential areas have garbage collection teams and they are transported to the factory in Viet Hong commune for processing.
On average, Kim Thanh district generates about 33,000 - 35,000 tons of domestic waste each year. Of which, urban waste accounts for about 20%, the rest is rural waste.
