On June 14, Vinh City Police, Nghe An Province, announced that they had successfully dismantled a transnational drug trafficking and transportation ring, arresting two suspects and seizing more than 20 kg of drugs and related evidence.
The leader of the transnational drug ring is Xayyasone Xay (born in 1990), residing in Saychalon village, Vieng Thong district, Bolikhamxay province, Laos.
Through monitoring, Vinh City Police discovered that a number of foreigners often organized suspicious criminal activities related to drug trading and transactions in the border area of Thanh Chuong district.
Deploying professional measures, at around 12:00 on June 12, 2024, in the Ho Chi Minh trail area in Ngoc Lam village (Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province), Vinh City Police presided over and coordinated with the District Police and Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station to successfully break the case, control and arrest Xayyasone Xay, seize a backpack containing 3 kg of crystal meth and 170,000 synthetic drug pills (total weight of 20 kg of various drugs) and some other related evidence.
Continuing to expand the investigation, in the early morning of June 13, the Special Task Force arrested accomplice Le Ngoc Duong (born in 1990), residing in Vinh city, Nghe An.
According to the Investigation Police Agency, the subjects in the project are all notorious, reckless, and involved in drug crimes with sophisticated methods and tricks. Therefore, the members of the Project Board persistently collected documents and evidence, followed the area, and kept a close eye on the subjects' movements, waiting for the right moment to "spread the net" and arrest the entire network.
The case is being further investigated by the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency.
