Mr. Putin was re-elected President of the Russian Federation, winning 87.97% of the votes in the three-day election from March 15-17.
At 9:00 p.m. Moscow time on March 17 (8:00 p.m. Kaliningrad time, or 1:00 p.m. Hanoi time on March 18), the last polling stations in the Russian Federation Presidential election in the westernmost province of Kaliningrad closed, ending the 8th Presidential election in the Russian Federation lasting three days from March 15-17.
According to the exit poll conducted during the three election days by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), independent candidate and current President of the Federation Vladimir Putin came in first place, winning 87.97% of the votes.
Coming in second was the candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) Nikolai Kharitonov, who received 4.6% of the votes, followed by Vladislav Davankov of the New People's Party with 4.2% of the votes and fourth was the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), Leonid Slutsky, with 3% of the votes.
Meanwhile, according to data published by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation on its bulletin board, as of 8:00 p.m. on March 17, the total number of voters who voted in person in the nationwide election was 73.33%. This figure does not include the number of voters who voted remotely online.
