The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will take place from December 19-22. According to the exhibition organizers, it is expected to display 68 types of equipment in service of the Vietnam People's Army on an area of 10,530 square meters, an increase of 19 types compared to the 2022 exhibition.
Displaying domestically produced defense industry and technical logistics products with a catalog of 468 products, an increase of 155 products compared to 2022.
In particular, the exhibition will innovate projection technology in the display: using 3D mapping technology, model of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, Ho Chi Minh campaign, virtual reality technology (VR) simulating the developments of the stages in the Dien Bien Phu campaign with our army's attacks in Muong Thanh field, bombers at Tan Son Nhat airport, simulating tanks 843 and 390 entering the Independence Palace in the Ho Chi Minh campaign...
Exhibition on cyberspace, interactive screen combined with VR to experience typical products that have been digitized in 3D.
As of November 23, partners from the US, Russian Federation, and Italy have registered to display weapons and equipment in the outdoor exhibition area.
The US partner displayed a C-130 aircraft, two A10 aircraft, a stryker armored vehicle, and an M777 cannon on an area of 3,000 square meters.
Partners from the Russian Federation displayed anti-tank missile systems, BMP 3M infantry fighting vehicles, RB-504P-E anti-UAV systems... on an area of 200m2.
The Italian partner exhibited training aircraft on an area of 100m2. The indoor exhibition area had more than 140 company contacts from 28 countries responding to participate in the exhibition, an increase of 208 booths compared to 2022, an increase of 183 booths compared to the target of the 2024 exhibition project.
As of November 28, 56 international delegations from 36 countries have registered to attend (8 delegations at the Minister of Defense level, 5 delegations at the Chief of the General Staff/Commander of the Defense Forces level...)
On the sidelines of the exhibition, there will be bilateral contact activities, introducing achievements of 80 years of building the people's armed forces, building the national defense, cultural and artistic performances, especially there will be an ASEAN Military Music Exchange program.
Within the framework of the exhibition, there will be a seminar program on the topics of weapons, high-tech equipment; unmanned equipment; defense industry cooperation between Vietnam and other countries (UK, USA, Russia, Japan, Korea, India).
Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, said that this year's exhibition has a total area of over 100,000 m2, with an indoor display area of 15,000 m2 and an outdoor area of over 20,000 m2. This scale is double that of the first exhibition in 2022.
Regarding the organization of the exhibition, the estimated budget is 120 billion VND. "This is entirely from socialized money, with sponsorship from businesses and the organizing committee from the sale of indoor and outdoor booths as well as services provided to businesses participating in the exhibition," Major General Le Quang Tuyen informed.
Since 2022, military technology has changed greatly and this exhibition has become more attractive to international friends.
Regarding the products displayed at this year's exhibition, according to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, they will be very rich, diverse, and have many new products.
Mr. Tuyen emphasized that international defense exhibitions are organized by many countries around the world. Countries organize exhibitions based on different strengths, criteria, and purposes.
In 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will organize the second exhibition with the criteria and purpose of being an opportunity to introduce weapons and defense equipment; exchange, learn from experiences and enhance cooperation, trust, and mutual understanding, thereby building peace and stability on a global scale.
Major General Le Quang Tuyen added that in the exhibition taking place in 2022, 5 contracts were signed (4 contracts from the General Department of Defense Industry and 1 contract from Viettel) and this year similar activities are expected to take place.
This year, the Ministry of Public Security will participate in displaying the achievements of the armed forces.
Mr. Tuyen said that Japan has participated in the exhibition for the first time, and this is the second time that this country will exhibit on a national scale with dozens of famous enterprises. The US and the Russian Federation will also have famous defense enterprises participating in the exhibition. Iran and China will participate for the first time.
