President Joe Biden announced: "Today, I am proud to announce nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

The new aid package includes a $1.25 billion package that will allow the Pentagon to take weapons from US arsenals and quickly deliver them to the battlefield.

In addition, $1.22 billion will be funded through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, under which military equipment is purchased from the defense industry or partners.

The new aid package will include drones, ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), optically guided missiles, anti-tank weapons systems, air-to-ground ammunition and spare parts, according to a statement from the US State Department.

Trump’s victory in the November presidential election has cast doubt on the future of US support for Ukraine, leaving the current administration with little time left to release billions of dollars in aid already authorized.
