What subjects do you need to be good at to become a flight attendant?

The aviation industry is one of the special industries with high recruitment demand, known as a "luxury" industry, and the salary is also very attractive. In particular, the position of flight attendant is being sought after by many young people.

One of the requirements if you want to register for the flight attendant exam is to be good at English, because the ability to listen and speak English fluently is very important when you have to understand and respond to the requests of passengers accurately. Listening and responding flexibly is necessary to solve problems and situations on the plane.

In addition to communication skills, flight attendants also need to be able to read and write in English. This helps them read and understand aviation documents, reports, procedures and instructions. Writing reports and documents is also an important part of the flight attendant job.

Although not demanding in terms of qualifications, most airlines today give priority to candidates with university or college degrees, graduating from related majors. This proves that you have been fully equipped with basic knowledge of the aviation industry.

Flight attendant entry requirements

As a flight attendant, you need to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers throughout the flight. In addition to knowledge about safety, food and drinks, you will be equipped with some skills in customer care, handling unexpected situations that may occur during the flight.

Therefore, airlines have very strict entry requirements for flight attendants. Specifically, candidates must meet all of the following requirements.

  • Proficient in at least 1 foreign language to best serve customers.
  • Standard height for women is 1m58 or more and for men is 1m75 or more.
  • Make sure you are in good health to be able to take flights that last for many hours.
  • Fluent, easy to listen to, polite and civilized communication skills.
  • Balanced appearance, good-looking face, no tattoos or deformities. Undergo professional training courses after being selected.

Flight attendants are among the highest-paid professions in Vietnam. The average starting salary for flight attendants is 4.5 million VND/month. However, this is the basic salary without additional benefits and allowances. New flight attendants usually have to fly 70-100 hours per month.

Currently, in our country, there is no school that trains flight attendants. However, if you intend and desire to work in the aviation industry in general and flight attendants in particular, you can study at facilities that train in the aviation industry, typically the Vietnam Aviation Academy.
