In need of money, a young man from Son La province working in Dai An industrial park (Hai Duong city) bought and sold drugs and had to pay the price.
On March 29, the People's Court of Cam Giang district coordinated an online trial of the defendant Lo Van Cuong (born in 1995, residing in Tang village, Tong Lanh commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La) for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
At court, Cuong admitted that he had been using synthetic drugs since December 2023. To have money to use drugs and for personal expenses, Cuong came up with the idea of buying drugs to use and sell to others for profit. On January 8, 2024, Cuong went to work in Dai An Industrial Park (Hai Duong City) and met and bought 6 drug pills from an unknown man for 600,000 VND, then brought them back and hid them in a rented room in Lane 8, Nhat Tan area, Tu Minh ward (Hai Duong City). After that, he took 1 drug pill to use.
At noon on January 22, 2024, Cuong was at work when a friend called to ask to buy drugs for use. Cuong agreed to sell the remaining 5 pills for 500,000 VND and set a delivery location. At around 7:45 pm that same day, when Cuong brought the 5 pills to the agreed location near the gate of Kim Xa village, Cam Doai commune to sell, he was arrested by Cam Giang district police and had the evidence confiscated.
The court sentenced Cuong to 32 months in prison. Cuong has a previous conviction for intentional injury and was released from prison in February 2022.
