Heavy rain in the North, many places have floods

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on July 24, the Northeast region will experience moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 40-100mm, and over 200mm in some places. From the night of July 24, heavy rain in the Northeast region will gradually decrease.

In the Northwest region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 50-120mm, in some places over 250mm. From July 25, heavy rain in the Northwest region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will tend to decrease gradually.

This afternoon and tonight, in the Central Highlands and the South, there will be showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15-30mm, in some places over 60mm.

Also according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from tonight, the water level at the Hanoi hydrological station will gradually rise and reach 6.10m, below alert level 1 on the morning of July 25. After that, the water level at the Hanoi station will depend on upstream floods and the discharge operations of hydroelectric reservoirs.

On rivers in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, there is a possibility of a flood, with a flood amplitude on the rivers from 2-5m. During this flood, the flood peak on rivers in Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Ninh
Coastal estuaries and rivers are likely to reach level 2.

Flood peaks on rivers in Son La, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Phu Tho provinces and the upper Thai Binh River have reached level 1-2. Flood peaks on the upper Ma and Buoi rivers have reached level 1.

High risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas in the provinces of the Northern Delta and midland. High risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas of the North and Thanh Hoa.
