Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi said the AI-powered features of Bing search engine and Edge browser are now available to everyone. Users will be able to try out the new versions of Bing and Edge simply by signing in to Bing with their Microsoft account. Mehdi noted that the services are being improved with image and text processing capabilities, and Microsoft plans to add video capabilities.
Recently, Bing Image Creator was also integrated into Bing's AI chatbot tool, allowing for both text and image content creation. Microsoft Corporation plans to expand Image Creator to all languages available in Bing.
The move by tech giant Microsoft comes despite concerns from experts that tech companies are rushing to develop AI. AI technology carries many risks, including the risk of exploiting AI for fraud such as fake voices, fake videos and fake text messages. Last March, more than 1,000 people, including billionaire Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, signed an open letter urging companies to halt the development of AI systems until new safety regulations for AI design are developed; and enforced and monitored by independent experts.
