Thanh Mien District People's Court has just tried and sentenced Nguyen Duc Hieu (born in 2000) to 21 months in prison for producing and trading in prohibited goods.

Nguyen Duc Hieu is a permanent resident of Ky village, Vinh Quang commune, Tien Lang district, and is currently temporarily residing in Hoang Lau 2 village, Hong Phong commune, An Duong district (both in Hai Phong city).
At 11:55 a.m. on May 8, on Road 392 in Doan Tung Commune (Thanh Mien), Thanh Mien District Police and Doan Tung Commune Police caught Hieu red-handed while riding a motorbike carrying 10 firecrackers weighing a total of 12.624 kg. Conducting an emergency search of Hieu's rented accommodation in Hoang Lau 2 Village, the police seized 2 plastic boxes containing 400 grams of firecrackers, 1 coil of fuse weighing 200 grams, 150 pieces of firecracker fuses, 190 firecracker shells, 1 pot containing sand, 4 bottles of glue and a number of items the subject used to produce firecrackers.
Fireworks produced by Hieu were seized.
Hieu confessed that in April 2023, he ordered materials through social networks to make fireworks to sell for profit. Each string of fireworks Hieu made was about 1 meter long and consisted of 84 fireworks connected together. Once he had produced the fireworks, Hieu went to internet cafes and created Facebook accounts to sell the fireworks for 600,000 VND/string.
