What will the 4/30 - 5/1 holiday schedule be like for businesses that still work on Saturdays?

Regarding this issue, based on Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code No. 45/2019/QH14, on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, employees will have 1 day off for each holiday. In 2024, April 30 falls on Tuesday and May 1 falls on Wednesday.

Therefore, according to the regular schedule, if a business works on Saturday, it will only have two days off on Tuesday and Wednesday and will not be compensated with other days off.

And the holiday schedule for April 30 - May 1 of businesses working on Saturday will be implemented according to the agreement between the employer and the employee, not applying the holiday schedule proposed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

According to the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), enterprises are encouraged to apply the holiday period of April 30 - May 1, 2024 for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees, but ensure full implementation of the regimes for employees according to the provisions of law, and encourage more favorable agreements for employees.

Therefore, there will be two cases regarding the holiday schedule from April 30 to May 1, 2024 as follows:

- If the second day off is implemented (March 29, 2024): Employees will have 4 consecutive days off from Sunday (March 28, 2024) to Wednesday (May 1, 2024) and arrange a suitable compensation day.

- If Monday is not off: Employees will have Sunday (March 28, 2024), Tuesday (April 30, 2024) and Wednesday (May 1, 2024) off. Monday will still work as usual.

In case the enterprise and the employee agree on a schedule to compensate for other holidays in the month, the employee at the enterprise can have 5 days off, the same as the schedule for cadres, civil servants and public employees.

During holidays, only April 30 and May 1 are paid.
