Quang Liem said that this was the second time he had participated in the tournament in Switzerland, and it was also an important preparation for the upcoming Chess World Cup in Azerbaijan. According to him, the Biel Chess Festival had unique features as each opponent had their own characteristics, many of whom were at the Super Grandmaster level and did not have many weaknesses or were more easily exposed than players with less experience. Therefore, for Quang Liem, competing and confronting good players at the Biel Chess Festival was an opportunity for him to find suitable countermeasures and strategies for each person, as well as to promote his strengths and exploit their weaknesses.

In the Grandmaster Triathlon, Quang Liem entered the final day with a lot of pressure as the opponents behind him on the rankings were considered to have many opportunities to break away, while the leader, Vincent Keymer, was half a point ahead of the Vietnamese player. However, with his own strength, Liem had a draw on the final day, earning an additional 1.5 points. Meanwhile, Keymer lost the last game and did not earn any points. Thanks to this result, Liem rose to the top of the rankings and was 1 point ahead of Keymer in the final round.
