Most schools in the province have established Learning Promotion Associations, built Learning Promotion Funds, Talent Promotion Funds, and diversified forms of learning promotion to help motivate and encourage students and teachers to compete in teaching and learning well.
2023 is the third year that Nguyen Xuan Duc, a student at Thanh Mien High School, has received a scholarship of more than 1 million VND.VND/school year. Duc shared: “I have a physical disability and my family’s circumstances are difficult, so I am very happy to receive a scholarship and the attention of the school, teachers, and benefactors. This is a great motivation to help me overcome difficulties and move forward.”
Duc is just one of many disadvantaged students of Thanh Mien High School who have received attention and support from the school. Mr. Le Van Luc, Principal of the school, said that identifying the promotion of learning as one of the solutions and motivations to improve the quality of teaching and learning, in recent years, the school has had many practical and meaningful activities to promote the promotion of learning and talent in the school. 100% of the school's staff and teachers are members of the Promotion of Learning Association, actively participating in building the Promotion of Learning Fund, while promoting propaganda and mobilizing former students and "Generous Benefactors" to participate in building the Promotion of Learning Fund.
“Each year, the school mobilizes about 60 million VND to reward nearly 100 students and teachers with excellent achievements in teaching and learning, grants scholarships to 10-15 excellent students, poor students who overcome difficulties, and supports many students with difficult circumstances. Many poor students are also supported by teachers with extra tuition fees. This activity has created great motivation, spirit, and determination for students and teachers to compete to achieve achievements, contributing significantly to improving the quality of education at the school,” said Mr. Luc.
Like many other schools, not only mobilizing resources to build a Scholarship Fund to reward students and teachers on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20, giving gifts to disadvantaged students on holidays and Tet, Gia Hoa Primary School (Gia Loc) also creates a healthy playground, developing talents for students right in school. The school coordinates to organize extracurricular activities, after-school activities, and participates in club activities. The club models are organized regularly to become educational activities for students about traditions and ethics.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, Principal of Gia Hoa Primary School, said that in order to create conditions for students to maintain and expand the habit of reading, the school has focused on building a standard, green, clean, beautiful library with a wide range of books, open every day, meeting the learning and research needs of students in the school. Instead of rewarding with cash, the school buys good books to give to students with excellent achievements and students who have overcome difficulties. After reading, students share books with other students to borrow to read...
According to the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, Hai Duong has more than 700 School Promotion Associations with more than 20,000 members, 100% of staff and teachers are members of the associations. Since the beginning of 2023, the School Promotion Associations in the province have supported and rewarded nearly 200,000 students with a total amount of nearly 20 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Education, said that with the mission of promoting the movement of promoting learning and talents, contributing to the building of a learning society, over the years, the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Education has continuously consolidated its network of activities to develop both breadth and depth. Thanks to that, not only clans, families, and individuals have promoted learning, but recently, schools have also done a very good job of promoting learning. Not only mobilizing resources to build a strong Learning Promotion Fund, schools also have many creative ways to develop the learning promotion movement such as the model of "Piggy Bank", "Friends progressing together", "Book of advice", "Loudspeaker of learning promotion"... To promote the lifelong learning emulation movement in families, clans, communities, units and register to strive to become "Learning citizens", all District-level Learning Promotion Associations have coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to advise the District People's Committee to complete the Steering Committee for building a learning society, issue plans and action programs for implementation.
“However, through actual surveys, there are still many school associations facing difficulties in building funds and have not been able to organize many activities to encourage learning and talent. This requires more dynamism and creativity from school associations as well as attention and facilitation from Party committees, authorities, and support from the people,” said Mr. Nhang.
