Perfecting the organization system of the Association to promote the role of the elderly

Speaking at the Conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized: The elderly nationwide are very excited and grateful to the leaders of the Party, the State, all levels and sectors for their constant care and creating conditions for the Association and the elderly to be protected, cared for and promote their role in all areas of social life. Conclusion 58 was born to meet the expectations of the elderly.

In the past time, the Central Association has worked with 51 provinces and cities, and the leaders of Party committees and authorities have all paid attention to and highly appreciated the role of the elderly in the economic and social development and implementation of local political tasks. Experience shows that wherever the leaders of Party committees and local authorities pay attention, the Association's activities and the elderly movement develop extensively and effectively. However, there are still a few local Associations of the Elderly whose activities are not outstanding, and have not actively advised Party committees and authorities on elderly work... so the effectiveness of their activities is not high.

Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh suggested that in the coming time, the Association of the Elderly at all levels should actively, focusedly, systematically and effectively implement key tasks and programs of the Association; especially major events such as the National Conference to honor outstanding elderly people who are good at economics; well organize the regional Elderly Singing Festival towards the National Festival combined with launching a response to the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023...

At the Conference, delegates listened to the leaders of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization and the Ministry of Home Affairs summarize the process of formation and development, and practical activities of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly over the past nearly 30 years; the necessity of perfecting the model of organizing the 4-level Association in a unified manner nationwide; the basic content of Conclusion 58 and some viewpoints and policies in directing, operating, and effectively implementing this Conclusion.

The leaders of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization and the Ministry of Home Affairs acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the activities of the Association of the Elderly at all levels over the past nearly three decades. The Association has actively contributed to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, enhancing the position and role of the Association and the elderly in society. However, the operation process still faces many difficulties because the organization of the Association of the Elderly is not unified nationwide, there still exists the model of the Association of the Elderly and the Representative Board of the Elderly, which is not yet connected, so the direction activities are still intermittent, the policies for cadres and members are not guaranteed, and do not meet the requirements of the tasks...

Speaking at the Conference of representatives of the Association of the Elderly in Hanoi, Da Nang, Thanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces, they expressed their joy and excitement, sharing that over the years, the Party, the State and ministries, branches and localities have always paid attention and issued many policies and activities to care for and promote the role of the elderly. This is reflected in the speech of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to delegates attending the 4th Congress of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly on January 13, 2022 and Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW dated June 23, 2023 of the Central Party Secretariat on the organization and operation of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.

Opinions say that this is a source of encouragement, creating conditions for cadres, members of the Association and organizations of the Elderly at all levels to continue to effectively carry out work for the elderly and promote the role of the organization of the Elderly Association, encouraging the elderly to comply with the guidelines and policies of the Party and State, strengthening social consensus, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring security, national defense, building and protecting the Fatherland.
