Recently, with the opening of some foreign labor markets to recruit Vietnamese workers, many workers wishing to work abroad have fallen into the "trap" of fraud.

To prevent the above situation, the Department of Overseas Labor Management has recommended that workers should carefully research information before deciding to work abroad.
Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem, Deputy Director of the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs - LLĐTBXH) said that scammers have taken advantage of the needs of workers who want to work abroad for high income, good working conditions but do not have to go through the stages, procedures of selection, foreign language training, and vocational skills. Therefore, many organizations and individuals who do not have the function of providing services to send workers to work abroad have found many forms and tricks to scam workers.
There are very sophisticated forms and tricks that require the involvement of management agencies and authorities to detect. These subjects often set up companies, have offices and staff like businesses operating services to send workers to work abroad, organize advertising on social networks such as Facebook, Zalo...
“They even have a website promoting the company’s activities and images of recruiting, training workers and where workers work abroad,” said Nguyen Gia Liem. These subjects also take advantage of the reputation of businesses that send workers to work abroad to set up companies with similar names to deceive workers.
According to the Department of Overseas Labor Management, in general, the forms and methods of fraud of these organizations and individuals still only target the need of workers to work at all costs, and the limited awareness of the law and information about overseas jobs among workers.
The Law on Vietnamese Workers Working Abroad under Contract (amended) (Law No. 69), effective from January 1, 2022, and legal documents detailing and guiding the Law have been issued, which strictly stipulate the requirements for businesses providing services to send workers to work abroad. The Law and guiding documents also clearly stipulate the costs for workers working abroad for each specific market, industry, profession and job.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to organize propaganda, dissemination and legal education on newly issued regulations in the field of workers working abroad under contracts. This propaganda will be carried out in appropriate forms to agencies, organizations, people and communities to raise awareness in complying with legal regulations.
In addition, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will also strengthen regular or surprise inspections and strictly handle violations in this field. According to Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem, with detailed and clear regulations on expenses of workers working abroad in the above legal documents, it will be the basis for workers, agencies, organizations and people to monitor the collection of money by enterprises from workers.
To avoid being scammed into working abroad, according to Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem, workers who want to work abroad need to directly contact businesses that have a license to operate services sending workers to work abroad issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. The list of businesses with licenses is on the Electronic Information page of the Department of Overseas Labor Management.
