According to the Project on arranging commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period of Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong), the new administrative unit when merging the two communes of Kien Quoc and Hong Phuc is named Kien Phuc.
The previous proposed name when merging the two communes of Kien Quoc and Hong Phuc was Kien Hong. Ninh Giang District changed the naming plan due to many opinions from officials and voters. The decision to take the new name Kien Phuc was discussed and agreed upon by the Standing Committee of Ninh Giang District Party Committee with the Party Committees of the relevant communes.
The Steering Committee for the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the period 2023-2025 of Ninh Giang district also held a workshop to name the new administrative unit after the arrangement of Kien Quoc commune with Hong Phuc commune. At the workshop, most of the opinions of party members, elderly people, voters and people of Kien Quoc and Hong Phuc communes highly agreed to name the new commune Kien Phuc commune.
When established, Kien Phuc commune had a natural area of 10,583 km2 with more than 13,000 people. The new administrative headquarters after the merger is located at the current headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Hong Phuc commune.
In the 2023-2025 period, Ninh Giang district will have 8 commune-level administrative units reorganized (7 communes, 1 town). After the reorganization, Ninh Giang district will have 16 administrative units, a reduction of 4 units compared to the present.
