The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said on the evening of October 8 that a cold air mass is moving down to the North. On the night of October 9, the cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then the North Central region and some places in the Northwest. The American Accuweather website predicts that tomorrow Hanoi's temperature will be 24-31 degrees Celsius, and by Wednesday the highest temperature during the day will drop to 26 degrees Celsius, and at night to 22 degrees Celsius. At high points over 1,500 meters above sea level such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), the temperature will be around 15-20 degrees Celsius.
The North Central provinces will also be affected by cold air with average temperatures of 25-27 degrees Celsius.
The Central and South Central regions, the Central Highlands and the South are forecast to have rain in the next three days with a common amount of 10-30 mm, some places over 60 mm (rain concentrated in the late afternoon and night).
Thunderstorms can cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain can also lead to the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
The meteorological agency said that in October, cold air will begin to increase in frequency and intensity.
