Hai Duong has implemented waste classification at source scattered in 41 communes with a total of about 50,400 participating households.
Implementing the project "Solid waste treatment in Hai Duong province in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030", Hai Duong has issued a handbook on waste classification at source. According to the project's objectives, Hai Duong has applied a pilot model of waste classification at source in 22 communes (each district, town, and city has a pilot in 2 communes, except Hai Duong city) for 2 years (2022 - 2023).
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, after implementation, by early December 2023, the province had implemented waste classification at source scattered in 41 communes with a total of about 50,400 participating households.
In particular, Nam Sach district alone implemented waste classification at source on a district-wide scale with 40,918 households; the rest are households in Kim Thanh, Tu Ky, Gia Loc, Cam Giang, Thanh Mien districts...
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has coordinated with the district People's Committee to review waste landfills and transfer points. Coordinate with departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee to make a preliminary assessment of the effectiveness of source classification in Nam Sach district, on that basis, it will advise on expanding the source classification model in the coming time.
