If you want to see the first leaves turning yellow in Korea, visitors should go to Seoraksan Mountain, Gangwon Province in late September.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam, Seoraksan Mountain in Seorakan National Park, Gangwon Province is the first place in Korea where the leaves turn yellow. The leaves started changing color on September 29 and the peak season for yellow and red leaves is late October and early November.
In addition, visitors can visit Bukhansan Mountain located in the center of Seoul; Jirisan Mountain located in the national park of the same name in the three provinces of Jeollanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do. Naejangsan Mountain in Naejangsan National Park in the two provinces of Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do is also a destination recommended by KTO. The most brilliant season of yellow and red leaves at these three locations falls on October 28, October 23, and November 5, respectively.
In Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul Forest, Olympic Park and Maeheon Forest are the best places to see the golden leaves this fall. If you want to experience something new outside of Seoul, you can visit Hwadam Botanical Garden on Nami Island, Bobaljae Pass in Danyang, and Hongcheon Ginkgo Forest. These are ideal destinations to see the "golden autumn".
