5 autumn journeys to see yellow and red leaves

According to many travel agencies, tours to see yellow and red leaves attract Vietnamese tourists because of the brilliant natural scenery. Due to the seasonal nature, tours during the season of yellow and red leaves can cost 3-4 million VND more than usual, depending on the itinerary. Below are the golden autumn tours suggested by travel agencies.

Japan Journey

Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hue, representative of Flamingo Redtours, shared the experience of viewing yellow and red leaves in Japan, attracting the attention of Vietnamese tourists. The beautiful leaf viewing locations selected for the tour include Kiyomizudera Temple, Kyoto; Lake Kawaguchi, Yamanashi; Meiji Jingu Park and Showa Kinen Park in Tokyo.

Tourists with limited time can experience the autumn foliage in Tokyo for about 19 million VND. The traditional golden route Tokyo - Mount Fuji - Nagoya - Kyoto - Kobe - Osaka for 6 days costs about 27 million VND. In addition, the route to explore the ancient village of Nagoya - Gifu - Shirakawago Matsumoto - Fuji - Tokyo is also a worth-trying option for about 32 million VND.

Tour programs are being innovated to avoid the "seeing flowers on horseback" situation. For example, in Tokyo, tourists can experience like locals, including taking the Shinkansen train, exploring Shibuya and Ginza, or food tours. According to Ms. Hue, the price of red leaf season tours this year is stable, tours departing during peak season are about 3-4 million VND more expensive than tours departing early.

China Journey

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung, Director of Danh Nam Travel, suggests the Beijing - Suzhou - Hangzhou - Shanghai tour to explore the golden autumn. The tour lasts 7 days, taking visitors to famous autumn viewing spots such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Both of these places are famous for their golden leaves, providing a memorable experience. Visitors will spend about an hour at the Forbidden City and two hours at the Great Wall to admire the beauty of autumn.

Another highlight is the Chongqing-Jiuzhaigou combination tour, where visitors can enjoy the picturesque autumn scenery. Meanwhile, the Lijiang tour, which includes Dali, will take visitors to explore the golden leaves season by Erhai Lake.

The Dali - Lijiang - Shangri-La tour costs around 18.9 million VND. Meanwhile, tours through the traditional route Beijing - Suzhou - Hangzhou - Shanghai cost around 22 million VND.

Korea Journey

Seoul - Nami - Everland 5 days 4 nights tour, priced at about 13 million VND, is suggested by Best Price. This journey takes visitors to the most beautiful autumn foliage viewing spots in Korea, notably Nami Island, known as one of the most romantic spots in the land of kimchi. Autumn on the island is filled with yellow and red from the ginkgo trees. Visiting time on Nami Island usually lasts a few hours, enough for visitors to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul is also a must-see stop. With a long history, this palace is covered in red and gold colors of ginkgo trees in autumn. Visitors can rent traditional Hanbok costumes to capture memorable moments.

European Journey

Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of Viet Tourism Media Joint Stock Company, said tourists can refer to European tours if they are familiar with traditional itineraries in Asia. Beautiful places to see yellow and red leaves include France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. European tours last 9-12 days and cost from 65 million VND per person.

Travelers will explore forests, parks and historic cities, including the autumn foliage of Zaanse in the Netherlands and the Rhine River in Germany. Some of the parks to see the fall foliage on the European itinerary include Palmengarten in Frankfurt, Rheinaue Park in Cologne, Germany; Vondelpark in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium.

"The majestic, poetic nature and unique culture of each European city bring unforgettable experiences to tourists during the fall season," said Mr. Vu.

Australia Journey

Australia's autumn falls from March to May, so if you don't have time at the end of the year, you can consider it. Viet Travel representative shared that the ideal destinations for the red and yellow leaf season in Australia are Tasmania and Dandenong Ranges.

Tasmania is an island about an hour’s flight from Melbourne, with many national parks and forests. In autumn, the fagus, a native Australian oak tree, changes its leaves to a brilliant orange-yellow. Meanwhile, the Dandenong Ranges, about 35 km from Melbourne, is a mountainous area with poetic natural scenery. This place has many maple and oak trees, which turn red and orange in autumn.

On a 6-7 day tour, starting at VND45 million, visitors can explore national parks and roads lined with red and yellow leaves. According to Mr. Vu, new leaf-viewing trips like Australia are attracting the attention of young visitors.
