In O Quy Ho (Lai Chau) there is the Rong May glass bridge that makes everyone amazed.
Although there are several beautiful names, I still like to call O Quy Ho Pass, Hoang Lien Son Pass… Cloud Pass. This name is most appropriate for the natural scenery of white clouds often covering the top of the pass.
But the name on the map is O Quy Ho, so just call it by its correct name for those who like to explore the majestic beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests to easily locate. O Quy Ho is located in Tam Duong district, on the road from Sa Pa (Lao Cai) to the peaceful city of Lai Chau.
In O Quy Ho, there is the Rong May glass bridge that makes everyone surprised.
The winding, foggy Northwest Road makes visitors' hearts skip a beat as they cling to the cliffs. But you will be pushed to the climax of true adventure when you climb the Rong May glass bridge.
O Quy Ho Pass is about 2,000 m high. The location of the Rong May glass bridge is 2,333 m high. You are taken up by a vertical elevator that "rises" from the mountain, reaching up to the sky.
To get to the glass bridge, visitors go through a tunnel carved deep into the mountain. From this mid-mountain station, an elevator will take visitors up another 300 meters. The feeling of riding a glass elevator in the middle of the sky, surrounded by clouds, is indescribable.
From the elevator or the glass bridge, the scenery is constantly changing. On cloudy days, the mist is hazy. Clouds wrap around you. On sunny days, the clouds can be below your feet. The clouds form a white cotton carpet.
Looking out into the distance is the majestic Fansipan peak on the Sa Pa land, surrounded by the mountains and forests of the Northwest. In spring, the rhododendron trees clinging to the rocky cliffs bloom bright pink.
I came across a tourist carefully “overlocking” on the glass bridge. Her eyes were looking straight ahead as if searching for something in the distance, not below her feet. Was she practicing catwalking? No. Between the glass panels was a steel bar. She was following the direction of the steel bar to avoid the feeling of stepping into a deep valley from a height of more than 1,000 m.
On a foggy day, you won’t see the deep valley. On a clear day, you’ll see a deep valley below. No matter the season, you’ll be amazed when walking on the Dragon Cloud Glass Bridge.
If you are not adventurous enough, there are also cliff games such as death swing, infinity bed, speed zipline, cloud bridge, tightrope bike, dugout bridge, and terrain climbing.
With the death swing game, visitors will experience the feeling of being thrown very high, below is a sea of white floating clouds...
Mr. Lo Van Ngoc, a Thai man from Than Uyen (Lai Chau), who has been working here for 5 years, led us a section on the glass bridge. He said the project was a feat and the dedication of the builders, starting from the survey “with rice”. I suddenly thought that walking on the glass bridge was just a sense of adventure, but the people who surveyed to come up with ideas, to make drawings, and then the people who built this project were the real adventurers. They overcame many dangers to create such a magnificent project.
Coming here, we see how small humans are compared to nature. Humans can only live with and depend on nature. Therefore, any intervention must take into account the balance with nature…
The transparent glass elevator with a height of more than 300 m conquers the top of O Quy Ho mountain, appearing for the first time in Vietnam. When visitors step out of the elevator, they will encounter a transparent glass bridge extending 60 m out of the cliff, the glass bridge system clinging to the cliff is more than 768 m long, at an altitude of more than 1,000 m above the ravine and 2,333 m above sea level.
On weekends and holidays, this place welcomes 3,000 - 4,000 visitors/day. On weekdays, it welcomes about 1,000 visitors. Many people who go to Sa Pa now have an additional interesting attraction: the Rong May glass bridge.
