A newly discovered area of Pharaoh Ramses II's temple in Abydos, Egypt, has revealed thousands of strange, non-human mummies.

According to Science Alert, this cluster of structures spans 1,000 years of ancient Egyptian history from the Sixth Dynasty to the Heroic Age, meaning some artifacts and relics date back up to 4,300 years.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, these mummies were created about 1,000 years after the death of Pharaoh Ramses II, as a form of worship.
