On November 30, the Hanoi Employment Service Center coordinated with the Overseas Labor Center to organize a "Job Fair for EPS workers (Korea) and IM Japan interns (Japan) returning to Vietnam in 2023".
According to Mr. Nguyen Tay Nam, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA), up to now, Hanoi has created jobs for 200,280 workers, reaching 123% of the 2023 plan, an increase of 2% over the same period in 2022, equivalent to 4,794 workers.
To achieve the set goals, the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with departments, branches and localities to conduct research, forecast and evaluate the labor market situation, as well as development trends and economic impacts in the coming time, and occupational shift trends, in order to find new and suitable policies, support workers in vocational training, expand career opportunities for workers; at the same time, help businesses recruit workers, contributing to ensuring social security in the capital.
In recent years, the whole country has had more than 130,000 workers and Hanoi alone has had nearly 7,000 workers sent to work in Korea and Japan under the EPS and IM Japan programs returning home. The program has brought good job opportunities, high income, helped improve the lives of workers, contributing to the socio-economic development of the whole country in general and Hanoi in particular.
After living and working in Korea and Japan for nearly 5 years, these workers not only have high skills, understand the psychology of two developed countries, foreign business culture, but also have the great advantage of knowing the native language. With the knowledge, experience and accumulated capital, EPS and IM Japan workers after returning home have successfully started their own businesses, or held important positions in businesses.
“These are typical faces, representing workers returning from working abroad, creating motivation and inspiration for other young workers to follow. However, there are also many other workers who still have difficulty finding a suitable job to develop their abilities and experience after returning home. This is one of the reasons why many Vietnamese workers in Korea are worried that they will not be able to find a job in their homeland when their contracts are about to expire, so supporting domestic employment so that workers can return home with peace of mind after their contracts in Korea expire,” said Mr. Nguyen Tay Nam.
The organization of the Job Fair for workers working in Korea under the EPS program and IM Japan students from Hanoi and neighboring provinces returning home when their contracts expire is very practical. This is an opportunity for workers in general as well as workers working in Korea under the EPS program and IM Japan interns returning home to quickly find jobs that match their experience and skills, have income, and stabilize their lives. At the same time, it aims to encourage and motivate workers to return home in accordance with regulations when their labor contracts expire, contributing to reducing the rate of illegal workers residing in Korea.
Mr. Dang Huy Hong, Director of the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs), said: Sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts is a major policy of the Party and State, aiming to solve employment, increase income for workers, and at the same time contribute to improving the quality of human resources and international integration.
Overseas workers contribute significantly to the country's foreign exchange earnings, increase savings and improve the lives of workers and their families. In addition to increasing their income and that of their families, workers improve their skills, accumulate work experience, professional skills, sense of discipline, industrial style, foreign language proficiency and social knowledge.
This workforce, after returning home, becomes a resource for domestic economic and social development, an important factor in spreading industrial style, labor discipline and a cultural bridge between Vietnam and the world. The exploitation and effective use of human resources with experience working in a modern, professional industrial environment after the end of their working term abroad so that workers can confidently return to participate in the domestic labor market is of interest.
In more than 19 years of implementing non-profit programs of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, up to now, 127,407 workers have been sent to work in Korea under the EPS program and 8,718 workers have been sent to Japan for technical internship under the IM Japan program. The programs have brought good job opportunities, high income, helped improve the lives of workers and their families, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
After completing the programs, the workers who return home are experienced workers in many different professions, able to communicate in Korean and Japanese, and understand Korean and Japanese culture, as well as the working methods of Korean and Japanese businesses. Among the workers who have returned home, many have successfully started their own businesses with their knowledge, experience, and accumulated capital, or have taken on important positions in businesses.
However, there are also many other workers who have difficulty finding a suitable job to develop their abilities and experience. Over the past 10 years, the Overseas Labor Center has regularly coordinated with the HRD Korea Office in Vietnam, IM Japan Office in Vietnam, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Employment Service Centers of provinces and cities to organize many consulting activities, support job introduction, connect EPS program workers, IM Japan program interns returning home with Korean and Japanese-invested enterprises in Vietnam and other enterprises in Vietnam that need to recruit this human resource.
"The Overseas Labor Center has coordinated to organize 78 job fairs and sessions for workers returning from Korea, to connect labor supply and demand between workers who have returned home and businesses. These fairs and sessions have attracted the participation of nearly 1,500 businesses and over 17,000 workers," said Mr. Dang Huy Hong.
In addition, the Overseas Labor Center also implements the form of job search registration and online job introduction through the center's website. The job introduction support activity has helped EPS program workers and IM Japan program interns return to find stable jobs after returning home and businesses find the right labor source to serve their production and business activities.
Attending the Job Fair for EPS (Korea) workers and IM Japan (Japan) interns returning to Vietnam in 2023, there were 47 units and enterprises with a total recruitment demand of 1,568 positions. In particular, there were 16 units with Korean and Japanese investment capital that needed to recruit positions such as: Interpreters, mechanical engineers, machine operators, electronic component assemblers... with attractive income levels.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thuong, 32 years old (Quoc Oai, Hanoi), a worker who has worked in Korea for 9 years, came to this job fair hoping to find a job at a Korean company with a stable salary. Mr. Thuong said: "I went to work abroad under the E9 program (general labor). I went to Korea to work in the mechanical field with an income of nearly 50 million/month. I have been back in the country for nearly a year and now I want to have a more stable job. While looking for a job, I also want to study to improve my skills."
Like Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thuong, coming to the job fair, many workers who had worked in Korea under the EPS program and IM Japan interns returned home and found stable jobs suitable to their abilities, as well as businesses finding the right labor source to serve their production and business activities.
