The military spokesman for the Houthi forces in Yemen, Yahya Saree, said on October 2 that the force attacked military positions deep inside Israeli territory with Quds 5 rockets.
There has been no immediate announcement from the Israeli military about the rocket launch from Yemen. Mr. Saree also stated that the Houthis will continue to expand military operations against Israel until the conflict in Gaza and Lebanon ends.
Over the weekend, Israel also announced attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen, more than 2,000km from Israel, in response to the armed group's repeated missile launches into the country.
The Israeli military raid came after the Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel on September 28, near the time a plane carrying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived there. Israel's air defense said it shot down the missile "outside its borders."
Since November last year, Houthi forces have begun carrying out attacks on ships passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to show solidarity with Palestine in the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Drone and missile attacks by the group have disrupted shipping in the Red Sea, prompting retaliatory strikes by the US and UK against the group.
