'Hot girl archer' Do Thi Anh Nguyet and the secret to success

Do Thi Anh Nguyet was born in 2001 in Lac Hong, Van Lam (Hung Yen). Few people know that before the "hot girld" of the archery village started her professional sports career with the Hanoi women's basketball team in July 2016.

Half a year later, Anh Nguyet was directed to play individual sports that were more suitable for her physical condition, such as archery, shooting or fencing. Anh Nguyet's final choice was archery.

Not long after switching to archery, overcoming many difficulties when going from continuous physical activities to a sport that requires silence, the girl born in Hung Yen soon reaped remarkable results.

In 2019, Anh Nguyet won the SEA Games gold medal and the Asian bronze medal. Two years later, she won her first ticket to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and continued to have a place at the recent 2024 Paris Olympics.

Currently, Anh Nguyet is the number one female 1-string archer in Vietnam and once had the highest ranking on the world rankings (17).

Besides his impressive achievements, the archer from Hung Yen is also known as the girlfriend of badminton player Le Duc Phat - the man who proudly waved the Vietnamese flag at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, going viral on social networks.

Success or failure is a lesson

During the days leading up to Lunar New Year 2025, Anh Nguyet still maintained high concentration in training with the Vietnamese archery team.

She and her teammates still have Tet holiday according to regulations, but right after the holiday, the Vietnamese archery team will organize many team selection rounds until mid-March when they will "finalize" the list.

However, the few days with family are also precious moments for every top athlete.“My family has always been a great source of motivation for me. When I am in a bad mood, my family gives me support. This Tet holiday, I am very happy to be home and of course I have also brought a gift to make my mother happy," the cheerful archer said.

Talking about what happened in 2024, Anh Nguyet shared: “After the achievements, I have had experiences, failures or successes are all lessons that help me gain more experience for the future.

When I was young, I didn't think much so I didn't feel any pressure. But after a while, when I achieved certain achievements, I started to feel pressure, every day I had to maintain and surpass my old achievements."

Meditate and read long novels to practice patience

Archery is a sport that requires athletes to be calm both physically and mentally. Anh Nguyet herself also has ways to balance herself, aiming for high performance.

“In life, bad things are inevitable. I don't bring negative things into training, I always have to stay focused..

To train myself to be calm, in addition to physical training, I meditate, listen to music and read books. I often read long novels. This helps me to be more persistent." Anh Nguyet shared.

In 2025, the Vietnamese archery team will have world-class tournaments in April, May and September. The team's main focus is the 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand in December 2025.
