Miss Khanh Van: "Tet is meaningful when we can still be with our loved ones"

"Perhaps Tet is a sign that I'm about to get a year older! As a woman, everyone is afraid of getting old. Therefore, Van always cherishes every moment of youth, enjoys it and gives it her all."

Always confident because of having a solid "rear"

- Looking back at your journey and the results of reaching the top 21 of Miss Universe, what makes you feel most proud when mentioning this contest?

- The proudest thing when Van mentioned the contest was "the love of the home front". When participating in the contest, Van received a lot of motivation from the love and support of the audience for her. During the Miss Universe 2021 journey, there were times when Van felt pressured, but Van never felt discouraged and lacked confidence because Van knew that there was a strong "home front" that always supported and loved Van. Van always tried and made efforts to not disappoint the expectations and love that the audience had for her.

- Preparing to end your 2-year term at Miss Universe Vietnam, what will you do to keep your name "hot" without fear of being forgotten by the audience?

- After the end of my two-year term, Van will continue to work and accompany projects as when I was in office, and will support and accompany my successor. Besides, I will try to work more, participate in many charity activities and pursue my artistic path seriously and meticulously, so Van is not afraid of being forgotten. I am just afraid that if I appear too much, the audience will get "bored" of me.

- Vietnamese showbiz currently has too many beauty queens and runners-up, what makes you different and unique that people will remember you?

- Miss Khanh Van: Van has this concept, each crown will choose the right person to wear it. The title of Miss is the beginning, but it is the person wearing the crown who decides whether the crown shines or not. Many people often feel pressured to do something different. Van does not think so. Why do we have to force ourselves to be like this or that. Van thinks, if we want to do something, we must first be ourselves. When we are confident with what we have, we can introduce to everyone who we are.

- Specifically, what plans do you have to continue to shine?

- Currently, Van is also planning to carry out personal projects in addition to activities accompanying Miss Universe Vietnam. Everyone, please allow Van to keep it a secret until the last minute for a surprise.

- It is undeniable that Khanh Van has been making positive changes in appearance, especially style. Is that one of the goals you are aiming for to "heat up" your name?

- Van does not do anything to "heat up" her name, Van just thinks that like everyone else, over time she will improve in everything. Of course, Van is also accompanied and helped by many people in the team. Each person has a job, helping Van improve. Life is interesting only when it develops and moves forward. You cannot just stand still in one place. If you don't move forward, you will be left behind.

Before being crowned Miss Universe Vietnam, Van did not care too much about clothes. Whenever she saw something beautiful, she would buy it home, find a way to combine it with others, and then wear it. As long as Van felt confident, any outfit would help her shine. Everyone could see that every time Van appeared, she had a different image. Sweet, cute, or individual, sharp, Van could express it all through her clothes and makeup. Surely in the future, Van will renew herself more. Van wants to always change herself so as not to be boring.

- What are you most confident about?

- Van thinks it's the smile. Many people often criticize Van for having a protruding smile and squinting eyes, but Van finds that quite normal because everyone has flaws. Just love that flaw and turn it into something different, that difference will make you special and gradually become more beautiful.

What's important is how you feel, not how people see you, especially since everyone's taste in aesthetics is different.

- For you, in the past year, there were many successes but certainly also many unhappy things. For example, when you had to face false rumors related to school violence, even though you were "exonerated", can you share how you personally faced those kinds of rumors?

- To be successful, you cannot walk on a path "filled with roses", right? Therefore, Van does not deny that she has encountered many unhappy things on the road to success. Regarding the rumors related to school violence, Van thinks that it is also a challenge for herself to practice and hone her personality and strength to face public opinion. Van calmly handles everything and learns how to express her attitude so as not to affect her honor, her image and those involved.

- Aside from the negative rumors, I always see you full of energy. Maybe luck is smiling on you too?

- Of course, things will not always go smoothly for us, but choosing to face it with a positive or negative attitude is up to us. With the same difficult problem, if we choose a positive attitude, Van thinks she will always overcome it better than if she keeps a negative attitude. Therefore, Van always tries to keep a comfortable, positive and energetic mental state to improve herself.

- What kind of girl is Khanh Van nowadays?

- Being a girl... too gentle. Van is always said by everyone that she has no ambition, no fighting to achieve what she wants. But Van thinks that everything has its own destiny, sometimes what you want is not possible so you just let everything go with the flow. Van thinks that she is the type of person who lives simply, likes gentle, romantic things and does not "dramatize" things.

- However, do you think that if you are too "gentle" and have no ambition, you will become obscure?

- Everyone has a different choice and lifestyle. Van thinks whether it's bland or not depends on how the audience perceives it.

- At the age of 27, how do you feel you have matured?

- Van feels calmer, sees problems from many perspectives and handles them step by step. Van also learns to listen, share and love more. Importantly, the lessons learned on the journey of life have helped her become the strong Khanh Van she is today. Therefore, at the age of 27, Van is not too mature but mature enough to face problems that arise in life.

Tet is coming, signaling that I am about to get a year older.

- A new year has come, as a child of Saigon, how does Tet taste to you?

- For Khanh Van, the familiar taste of Tet in Saigon is the taste of a family meal, of the hustle and bustle of preparing for Tet, and somewhere, the scene of every family worshipping the Kitchen Gods. Starting on the 23rd of the lunar calendar, Van can feel the taste of Tet, feel Tet.

- Is there anything different about Tet during the epidemic season for you and your family?

- Of course, this year will be a Tet season associated with 5K, with masks and keeping a safe distance. In general, this year's Tet will not be as crowded as every year, to ensure safety for yourself and those around you. But that does not make Tet any less fun or meaningful, because Tet is meaningful when we can still be with the people we love, see Tet and enjoy the warm Tet atmosphere with relatives and family.

- Speaking of Tet, do you have any memorable stories to tell?

- For Van, it is probably the spring trips with her parents. Since being crowned Miss Universe Vietnam, Van still tries to keep the habit of taking her parents around the city every year during Tet, recalling memories of Tet in Saigon past and present. That is the happiest thing for Van when Tet comes and Spring comes.

- Every time Tet comes, what do you like to do most?

- Van likes to give lucky money to her grandchildren. When she was young, she received lucky money, now that she is older, she gives lucky money to her children and grandchildren as a way to send good luck wishes to her family.

- Do you feel scared or stressed about anything every time Tet comes?

- Maybe Tet is a sign that I am getting a year older! As a woman, everyone is afraid of getting old. So Van always cherishes every moment of youth, enjoys it and gives it her all.

- What do you wish for most in Tet 2022?

- Van hopes that everyone is safe and healthy to have a peaceful Tet holiday. For Van, at this time, being healthy enough to have a family meal is precious. Van also hopes that Tet 2022 will be a peaceful Tet holiday, opening a new year with a bright start.
