From 0:00 on January 12, Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir began to open its first water discharge gates to serve winter-spring crop production. Many pumping stations in Hai Duong operated at maximum capacity, taking advantage of the opportunity to store water in the fields.
Previously, Bac Hung Hai One Member Co., Ltd. opened Xuan Quan sluice gate to maximize water storage in the system and welcome the above water discharge.
According to the reporter's investigation, at 7:00 a.m. on January 12, the water level measured at the upstream of Xuan Quan sluice was about 1.77 m. The water level in the main canals of the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system is gradually rising.
Along with proactively opening Xuan Quan sluice gate to receive water from Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir, Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. also organizes to take water back into the system through Cau Xe and An Tho sluice gates (Tu Ky). The water source at these two sluice gates is measured daily to control salinity, ensuring safety before being put into the system.
On the morning of January 12, many pumping stations in some localities with agricultural land areas dependent on water sources from the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system such as Binh Giang, Gia Loc, Thanh Mien, Cam Giang... were operated at full capacity to store water for the fields.
The Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise of the districts has arranged permanent forces at the pumping stations during the entire period of the first water discharge of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir, ensuring effective and safe water extraction.
The Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. has completed the maintenance of irrigation works, dredging, clearing the flow, and clearing blockages to serve the purpose of bringing water into the fields. The works, machinery and equipment for water intake are qualified for operation.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong requested relevant units to base on the local planting plan and cropping schedule to proactively take water and flood water in accordance with the actual water source and water discharge schedule from hydroelectric reservoirs. For localities that take water directly from the external river system, they must make the most of tidal peaks to take water and store water in the main canal system, increasing the area of self-flowing irrigation.
For Chi Linh City, strictly manage water resources in reservoirs, do not drain water for aquatic exploitation or other purposes.
Areas in Binh Giang, Cam Giang, Gia Loc, Thanh Mien districts... closely monitor the water pollution situation of Kim Son, Tay Ke Sat, Trang Ky, Dinh Dao rivers... due to discharge from upstream provinces of the Bac Hung Hai system to coordinate in regulating water intake to ensure quality.
The Department requested the District People's Committee to direct, guide and mobilize people to early carry out land preparation to retain water in the fields, strengthen the reinforcement of the banks and plot banks to avoid leakage, loss and waste of water; prioritize water supply to areas with difficult water sources...
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the first water discharge will end at 12:00 a.m. on January 16. From 0:00 a.m. on February 8 to 24:00 a.m. on February 14, the Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir will discharge water for the second time. During this discharge, the plant will operate at maximum power generation capacity to increase water supply downstream.
