Hai Duong to plant 63,000 hectares of rice and vegetables in the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop

In the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop, Hai Duong plans to plant 63,000 hectares, including 53,000 hectares of rice and 10,000 hectares of vegetables.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Hai Duong Statistics Office inspected and evaluated the 2024 winter-spring rice yield in Thai Tan commune (Nam Sach).

The whole province strives for rice productivity to reach 6.5 tons/ha, output to reach 344,500 tons.

In rice cultivation, the province's policy is to reduce the area of ​​early spring rice to below 6% and maximize the area of ​​late spring rice.

Early spring tea is planted with glutinous rice varieties Nep 415, DT 22... at the foot of the lowland, the foot of the lowland. The planting method is with medicinal seedlings. Sowing time is from December 15-20, 2024; planting time is from February 1-10, 2025.

Late spring tea is planted with common rice varieties (Q5, Khang Dan 18, ADI 28, SHPT3...), quality rice (BT7, QD11, TBR225, TBR279, TBR87, TBR97, Thien Uu 8, Dai Thom 8, NVR20, Ha Phat 3, Huong Binh, Nep Huong, Nep 97, Nep 415...) and hybrid rice (Lai Thom 6...). Sowing with young seedlings on hard ground, yard seedlings, machine-planted tray seedlings, sowing time from February 1-10, 2025 and transplanting from February 10-28, 2025; or by direct seeding, sowing time from February 10-20, 2025.

Hai Duong encourages farmers to plant "one area, one variety, one time" to maximize the area of ​​synchronous application of mechanization, machine planting, machine harvesting, and application of scientific and technical advances in plant care...

In vegetable production, Hai Duong will promote and mobilize farmers to expand the area of ​​vegetables, beans, flowers of all kinds, corn, peanuts and some other plants. Encourage people not to expand the area of ​​kohlrabi and cabbage planted at the end of winter and the beginning of spring to limit the situation of surplus that must be cut down. Limit the planting of melons and watermelons on fields that have been infected with diseases that led to plant death from previous crops...

In the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop, Hai Duong planted 53,905 hectares of rice, reaching 100.5% of the plan, with an average yield of 67.43 quintals/ha, an increase of 2.43 quintals/ha compared to the plan and an increase of 1.97 quintals/ha compared to the same period last year; the province's total rice output reached 363,507 tons, an increase of 8,110 tons compared to the same period last year.

The whole province planted 10,111 hectares of vegetables, reaching 101.1% of the plan.
