Revealing the picture of banks' profits after 9 months of business

The three banks leading in pre-tax profit in the third quarter of 2024 and the first 9 months of the year are Techcombank, ACB and LPBank.

Techcombank is temporarily leading the table with pre-tax profit in the third quarter reaching over VND7,170 billion, up 23% over the same period last year (over VND5,800 billion). Accumulated in the first 9 months, Techcombank had pre-tax profit reaching VND22,800 billion, up 33% over the same period last year (over VND17,100 billion).

The runner-up position belongs to ACB, with pre-tax profit in the third quarter reaching more than VND 4,800 billion, down 4% compared to the same period in 2023 (more than VND 5,000 billion). Accumulated in 9 months, ACB's pre-tax profit reached more than VND 15,300 billion, up 2% compared to the same period last year (more than VND 15,000 billion).

LPBank is temporarily ranked 3rd, but the numbers are showing a strong breakthrough of this bank. In the third quarter, LPBank's pre-tax profit reached nearly 2,900 billion VND, an increase of 134% compared to the same period in 2023 (more than 1,240 billion VND). In the first 9 months, this bank had a pre-tax profit of more than 8,800 billion VND, an increase of nearly 140% compared to the same period last year (more than 3,680 billion VND).

The next four banks in the group include VIB, SeABank, Eximbank, KienlongBank. Of which, VIB is in 4th place with pre-tax profit in the third quarter reaching nearly 2,000 billion VND, down 26% compared to the same period last year (more than 2,680 billion VND). Accumulated in 9 months, this bank had pre-tax profit reaching 6,600 billion VND, down 21% compared to the same period last year (more than 8,300 billion VND).

Next is SeABank, this bank had a pre-tax profit in the third quarter of VND 1,270 billion, an increase of 11% compared to the same period last year (VND 1,140 billion). Accumulated in 9 months, SeABank had a pre-tax profit of more than VND 4,500 billion, an increase of 43% compared to the same period last year (more than VND 3,150 billion).

Although temporarily ranked 6th, Eximbank is the bank with the strongest profit growth rate in the third quarter of 2024. Eximbank's pre-tax profit in the third quarter reached VND 904 billion, up 194% over the same period in 2023 (VND 307 billion). Accumulated in 9 months, Eximbank had pre-tax profit of nearly VND 2,400 billion, up 39% over the same period last year (more than VND 1,700 billion).

Coming in next is KienlongBank, whose pre-tax profit in the third quarter reached VND209 billion, down 12% compared to the same period in 2023 (VND237 billion). In the first 9 months, KienlongBank's pre-tax profit reached VND761 billion, up 19% compared to the same period last year (VND639 billion).

Temporarily at the bottom of the list in terms of profit are PGBank, SaigonBank, BVBank and BaoVietBank. Of these, BaoVietBank has the lowest pre-tax profit. In the third quarter, this bank had a profit of only 6 billion VND, down 33% compared to the same period last year (9 billion VND). Accumulated in 9 months, BaoVietBank's pre-tax profit reached 32 billion VND, down 6% compared to the same period last year (34 billion VND).

In the bottom group, BVBank's rise is noteworthy. The bank's pre-tax profit in the third quarter reached VND30 billion, up 36% over the same period in 2023 (VND22 billion). Accumulated for 9 months, BVBank's pre-tax profit reached VND182 billion, up 194% over the same period last year (VND62 billion).
