From April 18-20 (ie from March 10-12 of the lunar calendar), the People's Committee of Tu Cuong commune (Thanh Mien) organized the traditional festival of Gia Coc pagoda.
Gia Coc communal house and pagoda are associated with the name of the Grand Tutor Le Trung Hoa of the Ly Dynasty, who helped the king defeat the Song invaders and was conferred the title of "Supreme God" by the dynasties with the title "Duc Dai Vuong Thai Su". He was honored by the local people as the village's tutelary god and had a statue carved for him. In 1993, the Gia Coc communal house and pagoda relic complex was granted a certificate of recognition as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.Gia Coc Traditional Temple and Pagoda Festival is held from the 10th to the 12th of the third lunar month every year with many outstanding cultural, artistic and sports activities...Among them, the procession of the village's tutelary god, Duc Dai Vuong Thai Su - Le Trung Hoa, attracted thousands of participants...Young, strong men are carefully selected by the festival organizers for the procession.Local people and tourists from all over attend the festival at Gia Coc pagoda.Local people display offerings in front of their houses to pay homage to the village's tutelary god.Chess is a traditional folk game of the Gia Coc temple festival.DO QUYET
