Hai Duong misses Uncle Ho

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid special attention to the cadres and people of our province.

Many lands in Hai Duong have been deeply imprinted with the image of Uncle Ho when he visited the province 5 times in 1946, 1957, 1959, 1962 and 1965. His visits left many deep memories in the minds and feelings of cadres, party members and people in the province. Every time he visited and worked in Hai Duong, President Ho Chi Minh kindly instructed and guided the Party Committee, government and people of the province to promote the achieved results, overcome limitations to perform well the tasks at each time, and actively contribute to the revolutionary achievements of the whole country. The examples of good people and good deeds in Hai Duong were all paid attention to, recognized by Uncle Ho and received many forms of timely commendation and encouragement such as writing letters, praising newspapers, awarding badges, medals and other noble rewards.

Among the times Hai Duong had the honor of welcoming Uncle Ho to visit, there was one time in May. That was on May 31, 1957, on his way from Hai Phong to Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh visited his home province. He went to Ai Quoc commune, Nam Sach district (now Ai Quoc ward, Hai Duong city) to visit a number of families, including the family of Mr. Vu Van Trung in Vu Thuong hamlet whose 3 children were in the army. At the Provincial Party Committee Hall, later Nguyen Ai Quoc School, now the Provincial Museum, Uncle Ho spoke to over 400 delegates who were regional cadres, provincial cadres, soldiers and people from all walks of life. He advised the cadres, soldiers and people to raise their will to strive with the spirit of sharing hardships, always unite closely, and strive to complete well the work of correcting mistakes in land reform and economic restoration to consolidate the North, creating a solid foundation for the struggle to unify the country...

Bearing in mind Uncle Ho's teachings, the Party Committee and people of Hai Duong always strive to promote patriotic emulation movements, successfully carrying out all revolutionary tasks in different periods. In the fight against foreign invaders, all classes of people in Hai Duong stood up one after another. More than 300,000 children of Hai Duong enthusiastically joined the army to save the country; nearly 39,000 soldiers heroically sacrificed, over 4,000 mothers were awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother; more than 21,000 wounded soldiers and nearly 9,000 sick soldiers left their blood, bones and youth on the battlefields. People in the rear "plowed in one hand, gun in the other", carried out the policy of "not a pound of rice was missing, not a soldier was missing", each village became a stronghold.

After 38 years of implementing the renovation process, especially after more than half of the term of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, Hai Duong's economy has achieved many important results. The economic structure has shifted towards increasing the proportion of industry and services. The scale of the economy is increasingly large, Hai Duong currently ranks 11th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. Since 2017, Hai Duong has balanced its budget. The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the 2021-2023 period increased by an average of 8.58% per year. Hai Duong's economic growth in the first quarter of 2024 reached 9.8%, ranking 6th in the country and 2nd in the Red River Delta. Political security and social order and safety are maintained. For many years, Hai Duong has always thoroughly grasped and effectively implemented the Central Committee's directives and conclusions on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle through specific and practical actions and methods. The focus is on implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, dated May 18, 2021 of the 13th Politburo on continuing to implement Directive 05-CT/TW. “Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle”. Every year, Party committees, leaders, cadres and Party members in the province register for breakthrough tasks to focus on, contributing to the successful completion of local political tasks. Thousands of good people and good deeds studying and following Uncle Ho are recognized and commended for their achievements and contributions to the overall development of agencies, units and localities in the province. Recently, Hai Duong launched the writing contest “Uncle Ho with Hai Duong, Hai Duong with Uncle Ho”. The contest aims to deepen awareness of the core values ​​of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle; to further highlight Uncle Ho’s affection for Hai Duong, and Hai Duong’s affection for Uncle Ho.

Every May, millions of Hai Duong people, the whole country and friends around the world are moved, remembering President Ho Chi Minh - the founder and trainer of our Party, the genius leader of the Vietnamese revolution, a world cultural celebrity. He devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation, unification of the Fatherland, bringing a life of freedom, prosperity and happiness to the people.

President Ho Chi Minh has passed away, but his feelings and teachings are still deep and forever a source of pride, motivation, and light for the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Duong to overcome all difficulties and challenges, determined to build Hai Duong to soon become a modern industrial province, to become a "model province" as he always wished during his lifetime.
