Hai Duong proposes the Central Government to handle 10 dike incidents

Through review and assessment, Hai Duong province needs to handle 10 dike incidents with a total estimated cost of 130 billion VND to ensure safety.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province, storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm caused 410 bamboo bushes to tilt and fall; there were 269 incidents of seepage, extrusion, leaks through the dike body, local overflow, dike slope landslides, culvert leaks, and water leaks through culvert wings during the flood. 35 headquarters, flood and storm prevention clusters, and dike watchtowers were damaged. All of the above incidents were basically handled safely from the first hour according to the "4 on-site" motto.

However, to ensure the safety of the dike system during the flood season, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development handle 10 dike incidents with an estimated cost of 130 billion VND.

The projects that need to be handled are filling in ponds and swamps near the dike foot, building the dike foundation on the left dike section of Thai Binh River in Co Thanh and Pha Lai wards (Chi Linh); renovating and upgrading the right dike of Kinh Thay River and building Ba Tao sluice in Pham Thai ward; building a protective embankment for the right dike of Kinh Thay River in That Hung ward (Kinh Mon); repairing and upgrading the left dike of Mia River in Vinh Lap commune (Thanh Ha); repairing and adding bamboo barriers in localities in the province. Repairing and upgrading the left dike of Thai Binh River through Thanh Hong and Vinh Lap communes (Thanh Ha); building 3 new projects: Ky Dac, Pham Xa, Duyen Linh sluices on the left dike of Kinh Thay River (Chi Linh city and Kinh Mon town); building embankments at the landslide point on the right dike of Kinh Thay River in Nam Hung commune (Nam Sach).

Incidents must be resolved and completed by April 30, 2025.
