The program is organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong, Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union and Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted. This is the 22nd season of the program (since 2003) and the second time taking place in Hai Duong province.

The event attracted nearly 4,000 high school students from Hai Duong province, parents and educational institutions to attend and learn information.

Mr. Do Duy Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong, said that the admissions and career counseling program was organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper at an important time to help candidates thoroughly understand the high school graduation exam, update the latest admissions information from universities, and answer questions about choosing a major and career in the future.

In addition to having questions answered by experts from the Ministry of Education and Training and famous universities related to graduation exams and admissions, parents and students can also find information from training facilities at nearly 70 consulting booths.

These are activities within the admissions and career counseling program implemented annually by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), the General Department of Vocational Education (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), with the support of Vingroup Corporation.

In 2024, Tuoi Tre Newspaper will organize 17 programs and 3 days of admission and career counseling in 18 provinces and cities across the three regions. In addition, there will be a special counseling program "With your children into the future" for parents, a career counseling program for 9th grade students who are wondering about the next steps after middle school, and two "Choosing admission wishes" festivals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City taking place after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the high school graduation exam scores.

At the program, students asked many questions about the new points of the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam in 2024; difficulties when students fail the graduation exam in 2024 and have to move to 2025; the exam to assess capacity and thinking; career trends; university criteria, scholarship policies, tuition fees, study abroad information... Experts directly answered and advised useful information; at the same time, encouraged students to keep their spirits up; choose a career and school that suits their interests, strengths and abilities.

Regarding the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam, which is of interest to many Hai Duong students, information at the program said that in 2024, Hanoi National University plans to organize 6 exams with 84,000 registrations. This year, for the first time, Hanoi National University Examination Center will organize the competency assessment exam at Sao Do University (Chi Linh) with 3 exams from April to June 2024.

Answering the question of Nguyen Dinh Thien Quang, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Van Cu High School (Hai Duong City) about the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam, especially the changes in 2025, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center, Hanoi National University, informed that there are currently more than 100 universities using the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam scores as a basis for university admission. Mr. Thao noted that candidates who have registered for the exam need to complete the procedures early during this time. Candidates should note that they must have the correct address and phone number to register their application to receive the exam notification. Candidates should take practice tests to get familiar with the exam. In particular, remember to bring your citizen identification card and computer when entering the exam room.

The new point of the 2024 competency assessment exam is the use of candidate identification technology at testing locations; increasing the scale, increasing testing locations, opening new testing locations; synchronizing data with the university admission information portal of the Ministry of Education and Training. Therefore, candidates have the opportunity to apply early at universities using the results of the competency assessment exam or apply together with the general admission round of the Ministry of Education and Training in the coming time. From 2023, the Organizing Committee will limit candidates to a maximum of 2 exams in 1 year and the special point is that candidates must ensure the gap between the two exams is 28 days.

At the program, many students asked experts about the trending industries in the coming years, especially information and job opportunities in industries such as technology and engineering; information technology, business administration - international business - finance - banking combined with logistics and supply chain majors; social sciences, languages ​​(English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean); health care; military, police, etc.

Nguyen Phuong Linh, a 12th grade student at Chi Linh High School, plans to research and manufacture semiconductor chips in the future, so she wants to learn about the materials engineering major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Regarding this field, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of the Communication and Career Guidance Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that this is a hot industry from this year and in the coming time, there will be a "thirst" for high-quality semiconductor technology human resources. In addition to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a number of other schools are also enrolling students in semiconductor microcircuit majors such as Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology, etc. The schools have also started to connect with semiconductor chip manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam to train and apply in practice, creating favorable conditions for students to study.

If you fail the 2024 high school graduation exam, how will you retake it?

2024 is the last year for candidates to take the high school graduation exam according to the old program, issued in 2006. Therefore, at the program, many parents and students wondered if they failed the high school graduation exam in 2024, how would they retake the exam in 2025?

Regarding this issue, Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) informed that from 2025, candidates who have not passed the high school graduation exam in 2024 and previous years will be organized to take the graduation exam according to the general education program they have learned to ensure full rights for them. This content will be included in the transitional provisions of the Circular promulgating regulations on high school graduation exams from 2025.

This information has relieved the worries of students preparing to take the 2024 high school graduation exam.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung added that the 2024 high school graduation exam will be kept stable in terms of method as in 2023. The exam will still include 5 exams, with 3 independent exams: math, literature, foreign language; one combined exam of natural sciences and one combined exam of social sciences. Candidates need to carefully learn about the time and process of registering their wishes; carefully read the admission plans of schools to avoid viewing old or unofficial plans; learn about the secondary criteria for majors and schools; carefully review the profile information and supporting procedures to implement preferential policies. Pay special attention to items that are "prohibited from being brought into the exam room"; regulations on protecting the confidentiality of exam papers, etc.
