Next school year, Chi Linh City (Hai Duong) will have 2 more high schools officially put into operation, contributing to solving the problem of lack of high schools in the city, giving students more choices.
Only meets the demand for more than 50% of secondary school graduates
Chi Linh City currently has 14 wards and 5 communes. The population in 2020 is 182,200 people, forecasted to be about 280,800 people by 2030, of which the inner-city population is about 238,680 people (urbanization rate of 85%) and by 2040 about 401,400 people, of which the inner-city population is about 349,200 people (urbanization rate of 85%). All wards and communes have primary and secondary schools (of which 3 wards have 2 secondary schools). Therefore, the need for local children to study and have a career is very necessary.
In previous school years, in Chi Linh City there were 4 high schools: Chi Linh High School, Pha Lai High School, Ben Tam High School, Tran Phu High School and the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education.
The size of schools and assigned quotas only ensure that over 50% of junior high school graduates who wish to enter high school can attend high school. Specifically, according to the decision to assign enrollment quotas by the Department of Education and Training of the province to high schools in Chi Linh city for the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024 school years, the number of students admitted to high schools is very low compared to the number of junior high school graduates, reaching 69.87% (2021-2022 school year); 56.83% (2022-2023 school year); 63.89% (2023-2024 school year) and only reaching from 52% to under 60% in the 2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. Thus, every year, more than 1,000 junior high school graduates in Chi Linh City who fail to pass the entrance exam to public high schools must consider their wishes or register for entrance exams at high schools in neighboring localities such as Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh or study at vocational schools...
In many meetings with voters, people expressed their frustration that the locality does not have enough high schools for their children to attend. They are even willing to let their children attend private schools with higher fees than public schools, but there are no private schools in Chi Linh City. According to many parents, when their children study near home, it will be very convenient for their children to travel and for families to manage their children...
There is a solution
According to the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, in the 2024-2025 school year, Chi Linh City will have 2 new high schools officially put into operation: Nguyen Thi Due High School and Tri Duc Primary, Secondary and High School.
Tri Duc Primary, Secondary and High School of Thanh Dong Education Development Joint Stock Company is the first private school in Chi Linh. Tri Duc School inherited all the facilities of the previous Vietnam - Canada Vocational School. Specifically: Block A has a floor area of 3,868.5 m2including 29 classrooms, functional rooms and other auxiliary areas. The school has a full range of multi-purpose buildings, auxiliary areas, playground systems, training grounds, swimming pools... along with construction items with a total area of over 10,100 m2. Regarding the teaching staff, in addition to the current number of staff and teachers, the school also invites experienced teachers from high schools in the city and teachers from some schools in Hanoi to teach together. Mr. Nguyen Hoai Bac, investor of Tri Duc Primary, Secondary and High School shared: "In the 2024 - 2025 school year, Tri Duc Primary, Secondary and High School will enroll 6 10th grade classes with about 270 students. We hope to bring Chi Linh students a good learning environment from facilities to education quality".
"I visited the school and saw that the facilities of Tri Duc Primary, Secondary and High School are very modern. I also know that in addition to the available teaching staff, the school also invites prestigious teachers from Chi Linh, Hai Duong City and Hanoi to teach, so I feel secure letting my child study here," said Mr. Bui Nhu Mai, Sao Do Ward, a parent of a student registered to study at the school.
Nguyen Thi Due High School is an autonomous public school under Sao Do University. The school is allowed to use the existing location and facilities at Campus II (No. 72 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street/National Highway 37, Thai Hoc Ward) and use the teaching staff of Sao Do University to ensure the school's operations according to regulations. With the available facilities including 2 classrooms with an area of over 4,400 m2, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school can enroll 9 grade 10 classes with 315 students.
"I have registered my wish to study at Nguyen Thi Due High School. With this school, we can study near home," said Nguyen Minh Lan, Van Duc ward.
These new high schools will give parents and students in Chi Linh City more choices. With their facilities and teaching staff, these two new high schools will create a new breeze for Chi Linh education.
According to the target of adding 2 new schools, next school year Chi Linh city will have 15 more 10th grade classes with more than 580 students studying at local high schools. Thus, each year there will still be about 400-500 junior high school graduates in Chi Linh who have to go to study in other localities. Therefore, in the coming school years, the existing schools in Chi Linh still need to expand their scale to meet the actual needs of the locality.
