Nearly 2,400 people participate in the National Phu Dong Sports Festival

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized that Phu Dong Sports Festival is a national school sports festival for high school students, aiming to achieve the goal of comprehensive education in Morality - Intelligence - Fitness - Aesthetics, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of students and eliminating social evils in schools. At the same time, it creates opportunities for students to demonstrate their sports talents and abilities. Thereby, it aims to discover and nurture talents in the field of sports for localities, the industry and the country.

The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024, Region I, with the participation of nearly 2,400 athletes, coaches, and Youth Union officials from 13 provinces including: Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Cao Bang, Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Lai Chau, Son La. Athletes compete in 11 sports including: Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Shuttlecock, Athletics, Pole Pushing, Swimming, Basketball, Tug of War, Aerobic Gymnastics with 145 events eligible for competition according to the Regulations.

The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival - 2024, Region I will be held in Phu Tho province from May 10 to May 17 at the following locations: Provincial Sports Training and Competition Hall, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted and a number of high schools in Viet Tri city. The distance between the competition venues is from 100m to 2km. Basketball will be held at Viet Tri Technical High School, about 5km from the Provincial Gymnasium.

Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Ho Dai Dung requested the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, referees and related forces to promote a high sense of responsibility, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, accurately evaluate the achievements and results of athletes in accordance with the Regulations and ensure safety and efficiency throughout the Sports Festival. The athletes competed with all their might in the spirit of honest sportsmanship, solidarity, determination and victory.

The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 is held in 5 regions: Region 1 in Phu Tho province, region 2 in Thai Nguyen province, region 3 in Quang Nam province, region 4 in Dak Lak province, region 5 in Ben Tre province. Phase 2 is held in Hai Phong city.

After phase 1 in 5 regions, phase 2 of the 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Festival is expected to take place at the end of July 2024 in Hai Phong City.
