Ford Everest accounted for more than half of the D-class high-chassis segment sales in January, with Mazda CX-8 and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport following closely behind.

The entire D-class high-chassis market sold 1,366 vehicles in January, down about 58% compared to December 2023. The reason for the decline is that December 2023 is the last month of the 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically assembled vehicles.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of new cars delivered to customers in the first month of 2024 decreased by 13.3%, due to the general situation of the entire Vietnamese automobile market.

The best-selling model in the segment is the Ford Everest with sales of 785 units, accounting for 57.5% of the entire segment, 699 units less than the previous month (December 2023). However, compared to the same period last year, the number of vehicles delivered to customers is 15 more.

In January, Ford reduced prices on a series of cars, but for Everest, the company limited incentives to 10% in all localities, which means a reduction of about 50-70 million VND and an additional 50% support for registration fees.

Mazda CX-8 sold the second most in the segment with 172 units, down 175 units compared to the previous month, equivalent to a decrease of 50.4%, but compared to the same period in 2023, sales increased by 10.3%.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport climbed to third place in the sales rankings for the first time with 136 units delivered to customers. This number is 41 units less than last month, corresponding to a decrease of 23.2%, while only 8 units were sold in the same period last year. Pajero Sport is being sold in Vietnam in the new version, introduced in November 2023, priced at 1.13-1.39 billion VND, imported from Thailand.

4th place belongs to Hyundai Santa Fe. The Korean car model sold 130 units in the first month of 2024, down 760 units compared to the previous month (December 2023), corresponding to a decrease of 85.4% - the highest decrease in the segment. Santa Fe sold in Vietnam is of the old generation. The car has many options from gasoline, diesel to hybrid engines, priced at 1.029-1.369 billion VND.

The three models at the bottom of the sales rankings are Toyota Fortuner, Kia Sorento and Isuzu mu-X, respectively. Toyota's SUV delivered 63 units to Vietnamese customers, 146 units less than the previous month. Sorento sold 61 units, 87 units less than in December 2023. The least sold in the segment was mu-X with 19 units, 23 units less than the previous month.
