Threatening to kill children, two brothers in Kim Thanh receive bitter consequences

Conflict from illegal behavior

The two brothers Giap and Cuong are related to Mr. HTA and his wife (born in 1990) in Lam Cot commune, Tan Yen district (Bac Giang).

From May 2020 to July 2022, Mr. A. and his wife, who worked in China, borrowed two social media accounts connected to the bank accounts of Ms. D.TY (Giap and Cuong's younger sister) and another person named A Say (Ms. Y.'s half-sister) to transfer money from China to Vietnam.

In July 2022, after Mr. A. and his wife returned to Vietnam, they received information that Y. and A. Say were arrested by the Chinese police. due to Mr. A. using Ms. Y.'s account to illegally transfer money. Ms. Y.'s mother, who is in China, requested that Mr. A. and his wife transfer 600,000 yuan to take care of Ms. Y. and A Say's release on bail.

On the morning of August 14, 2022, Mr. A and his wife texted Giap to ask him to transfer money to Y. Mr. A transferred more than 400 million VND to China to take care of Y. According to the agreement, after Ms. Y. was released on bail, Mr. A. also had to transfer 190,000 yuan to Y.

On August 15, 2022, Ms. Y. and A. Say were released on bail. Ms. Y. texted Mr. A. that the reason for her arrest was because the account lent to Mr. A. had a transaction of up to 5 million yuan. Mr. A. said that he did not transfer that much money during his labor in China, so he did not agree to transfer the remaining 190,000 yuan to Y. as agreed. After that, Y. sent the voice messages between Y. and Mr. A. and his wife to his brother Giap. Giap informed Cuong, so the two brothers met Mr. A. to clarify the matter.

Assault and threaten to kill children

At around 8:00 p.m. on August 22, 2022, Giap, Cuong and two other people went to meet Mr. A. and his wife at Mr. A.'s father-in-law's house in Kim Tan commune to talk about fulfilling the commitment. Because Mr. A. did not agree to transfer the remaining 190,000 yuan to Y., Cuong cursed and threatened to kill Mr. A.'s entire family. Cuong grabbed Mr. A.'s collar and punched him, then used a plastic desk to hit Mr. A. on the head. Mr. A. was afraid of being beaten, so he agreed to transfer the money to Ms. Y.

After that, Cuong asked Mr. A to give him the vehicle registration and motorbike key until he transferred 190,000 yuan. Mr. A did as he was told, and Cuong asked Mr. An to transfer 190,000 yuan (equivalent to more than 649 million VND) within 1 month. When the Kim Tan Commune Police arrived, Cuong and Giap left.

On the afternoon of September 14, 2022, when Giap went to ask for money, he only met Mr. A's wife and two children at home. Because he called Mr. A to ask for 190,000 yuan but Mr. A did not agree, Giap cursed and said: "If I do it, you have to suffer." Then, Giap slapped P. (born in 2017, Mr. A's son) in the face and kicked him in the stomach, then continued to curse and threaten to kill Mr. A's two children. Giap continued to go into the kitchen, get a knife, go to the gate, call Mr. A, curse, threaten to kill Mr. A's children, then leave.

After receiving the report and conducting an investigation, the Investigation Police Agency of Kim Thanh District Police initiated a criminal case for robbery.

On May 21, the People's Court of Hai Duong Province opened a trial for Dong Quang Giap and Dong Quang Cuong for robbery. In this case, Giap committed robbery twice. He himself had not had his criminal record cleared and continued to commit crimes, including crimes against people under 16 years old.

The jury found that the defendants’ actions were particularly dangerous to society, infringing on the legal property rights of others protected by law. The court sentenced Dong Quang Giap to 16 years in prison and Dong Quang Cuong to 15 years in prison, both for robbery.
