Hai Duong Electricity "struggles" to supply electricity during hot season

During the long hot days, the demand for electricity for daily life of the people increases, the power grid continuously operates at full load, even overloaded at some times, leading to the risk of local incidents causing power outages. During the hot days, the Thanh Mien Power Company's incident reporting phone often rings to notify customers of calls due to electrical problems. As soon as the information is received, the person on duty will notify the operation team to go to the scene to support customers in fixing the problem. While having to face the heat at the scene, the electricity workers also have to race against time to restore power to customers as quickly as possible. "To meet the needs of customers during the hot days, the workers on duty are always ready with vehicles and materials to fix the problem as quickly as possible," said Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, an employee of the Operation Team (Thanh Mien Power Company).

Thanh Mien Power Company is currently assigned to manage and operate more than 220 km of medium voltage lines, 313 distribution transformer stations with a total of 327 transformers. To ensure a stable power grid during the hot season, the unit has directed the operation management teams to organize a general inspection of the power grid, assign tasks to each individual, inspection team and take responsibility for each device and line under their responsibility. At the same time, it has increased line maintenance, focusing on handling and overcoming grid defects. "The unit has arranged human resources, means and equipment to be ready when incidents occur on the power grid system under its management. In particular, it has arranged human resources on duty 24/7 to quickly handle incidents for customers, shorten the time of power outages, and avoid major impacts on production and people's lives," said Mr. Hoang Quoc Toan, Deputy Director of Thanh Mien Power Company.

Investing in many transformer stations to prevent overload

In February this year, Ninh Giang Power Company energized and put into use Ngoc Hoa 6 transformer station in Ngoc Hoa village, Vinh Hoa commune. With a capacity of 400kVA, Ngoc Hoa 6 transformer station is supplying electricity to 117 customers. This station helps to reduce the load on Ngoc Hoa transformer station which is basically fully loaded, while reducing the power supply radius, improving the quality of electricity for customers in this area. This is one of the overload prevention transformer stations that Ninh Giang Power Company has accelerated and put into use before the hot season this year.

Ninh Giang Electricity has paid attention to upgrading and renovating the power grid system in the commune, helping the power source to be stable and safe, and people are also more secure when investing in electrical equipment for production and daily life", said Mr. Ha Van Ket, Vice Chairman of Vinh Hoa Commune People's Committee.

From the beginning of the year to the end of June, Ninh Giang Power Company has implemented many solutions to improve electricity quality such as investing in the construction of 8 overload-proof transformer stations to reduce the load on transformer stations in key areas, areas with high load and overload. Currently, Ninh Giang Power Company is urgently completing and energizing 3 more transformer stations with a capacity of 1,200kVA; spending more than 3.9 billion VND to invest in upgrading the low-voltage grid; strengthening major and regular repair items with a total cost of 3.7 billion VND... In addition, the unit also increased the frequency of monitoring the operation of transformers, especially during peak hours of electricity use. Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Director of Ninh Giang Electricity, said: “The unit requires contractors to speed up the progress of the grid investment project to put it into use soon, helping to reduce the load on the old system. At the same time, increase the force to inspect the grid system to promptly detect and fix defects…”

Along with solutions to improve the stability of the power grid, power units under Hai Duong Power Company Limited also coordinate with local authorities to propagate to customers to use electricity for production and daily life economically and safely, especially during peak hours on hot days.

According to Hai Duong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd., the unit is wholesaling electricity to 40 organizations and businesses that retail electricity to over 86,000 households in communes, wards and towns in the province. In addition to some organizations and businesses investing in improving the quality of the power grid system, many units have not yet paid attention to renovation and repair due to the need for large resources. Therefore, in some localities in the province, the power is still weak due to the degraded power grid system, causing frustration among the people. The situation in O Xuyen village, Co Bi commune (Binh Giang) is an example. Therefore, people always hope that Hai Duong Electricity and electricity retail businesses will pay attention to investing in upgrading and repairing the power grid system more regularly to ensure the quality of electricity supply.

In 2024, Hai Duong Power Company will invest in 1 110kV transformer station; 37 projects, including 3 power line projects after the 110kV transformer station, 19 medium-voltage grid projects, 12 overload prevention projects and 3 low-voltage grid projects.
